Welcome, deltablues!
I'm so intrigued by your username! I spent 5 years in grad school at the University of Memphis, in Memphis, TN, USA -- which is the cradle of what I know of as the delta blues. Very eager to hear about your connection to the delta blues!
I'm 40-mumble, too!

Well, great name, regardless! Somebody must at least have known of the delta blues to use the name.

You're a mere stripling Garej. We actually have a very wide range of ages on here tho I think the average is probably the 40-mumble ;D

hello from Nova Scotia. Stumbled on here because (yes , I'll confess this out loud ) because I googled myself and found a lovely succinctly written page about me and my books on the parent site. Thanks to the admin for that. annelouisemacdonald.ponymadbooklovers.co.uk/But I am also a horse/pony mad book reader and owner and am interested in what my peers are interested in. Hope you don't mind me lurking about, learning and sometimes sharing. Anne Louise

Hi and welcome hugahorse/Anne Louise. Feel free to lurk as much as you like! Also you are welcome to use the ponymadbooklovers facebook page to promote your books/tell people about your new books, etc. I really LOVE your book The Ghost Horse of Meadow Green! If you don't mind me picking your brains the minute you get here, how much horse content is there in Seeing Red?

Hi Well, I went on the internet to see if it might be worth starting to sell my collection of horse stories. Moved house, need to clear out stuff. Having found this I've decided that anything but the horse books can go! I'd never quite been able to bring myself to do it before as it felt like parting with old friends. Didn't imagine so many other people out there held these stories in such fond regard as I did. Whenever I do read one again, I am always impressed at how good the stories and characters are, especially the classics. I certainly got most of my horse knowledge from them. If mastermind is still going might be tempted to put myself down for the We Hunted Hounds trilogy. Look forward to being inspired to re- read a few more. And, not doing much for the average age - turned 41 today!

Welcome desertorchid and happy Birthday too. Are you a racing fan with a name like that? I agree, don't get rid of your horse books unless there is no alternative. So many people complain to me that they did so and regretted it ever since!

Hi, I'm Lucinda, I already introduced myself, but on a different bit of the website! I'm in the UK. Are most people here in the UK? I noticed a few mentioning you lived in exotic places like Australia and Nova Scotia.... Horse books are like pets - never get rid of them! That said I have managed to get myself some nicer, older editions this time round!

Hi, Thanks for the warm welcomes. Sadly Desert Orchid was a nickname one lad, who was into racing, gave me at school - I didn't mind Racing is the one horsey thing I never really got into. Never had my own horse, but still ride when I can. I'm a member of the Civil Service Riding Club, and a few months ago their newsletter featured an article by Gillian Baxter. Some of the club's activities had inspired bits of her stories. I'll see if I can get hold of a copy and post it here if you are interested. My collection began in the early 1980's. I used to go with my mum and dad to Hay on Wye each year. We loved the bookshops and I used to come away with lots of horse stories. Wasn't consciously collecting them, just enjoyed reading them. It's only recently I've begun to think of it as a collection. Dug out A Pony for Jean last night and was impressed to find out I'd paid a fiver for a first edition - over 25 years ago though! The rest are still in boxes, but will definitely be returning to the shelves! Have some unusual ones I'd like to find out more about, so will let you know when unpacking finished. Thanks

Lucinda, most of us on here are in the UK and its a UK based forum, but we do have quite a few members from Australia and the USA and one or two from elsewhere.

If mastermind is still going might be tempted to put myself down for the We Hunted Hounds trilogy. Desertorchid - altho the competition is closed to new entrants, one of our members chose the Hounds trilogy for their specialist subject back in the 2010 Mastermind competition so you could have a go at answering the questions just for fun. You can find them here: ponybooks.proboards.com/thread/1067/pony-book-mastermind-round-2
