Oh Zoe of course you arent burdening us. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we feel like 'adoptive' parents after following his progress these last months. I do so hope he is alright. It may have just been a glancing blow. Hopefully the vet would have picked up on anything serious. Give him lots of cuddles from me and tell him to get better soon.
Keep us posted. My thoughts are with you.

Thanks everyone I am a lot happier this morning - Pumble seems a lot brighter he is walking around his box (with quite a limp) and trying to play attack me when I give him a fuss. ;D Hopefully this means he will be alright, my poor other half felt awful even though it wasn't his fault really and now I've just got to keep him contained so he rests (Pumble not oh). Your kind words helped me through last night though I'm sure it has earned me a lot more grey hair, Pumble is back at the vets on Tues morn so hopefully he will get the all clear.

Oh I'm so glad that Pumble is up and about. You must be exhausted with worry. Lets hope all is well when he goes to the vet. Your poor OH too. But these things happen. Its the old debate between letting them out and keeping them in, isnt it?

Oh Zoe, thank goodness he is on the mend - he is going to need 81 lives at this rate! Thinking healing thoughts! My adopted stray is useless around cars - and I swear she does it deliberately sometimes just to see me panic! She nearly managed to get run over by Tesco's delivery van a couple of days ago - on a bumpy farm lane where you could hear the van coming for miles!! Cats!!

YAY! We have a big truck arriving loaded with building stuff for a "cubby house" (more a spare room) and I'm going to lock Finn away, not that he'd go anywhere near it 'cos he's cowardly that way. Still, don't want to take any chances.
GO PUMBLE you silly, silly kitten....

I'd better add the vet said he is ok. He is quite wobbly but as long as he's eating, drinking and going to the toilet he will be fine. The difficulty now is stopping him climbing as the vet said moving around will be good for him but no climbing..........Well I've told Pumble that so I'm sure he will oblige haha.
Good plan Cally keep Finn away from the big lorry in case he decides to test your nerves! I'm hoping that when he is recovered, Pumble will be scared of vehicles but he is a very silly kitten so who knows? Cheers all.

I think the best option for cats is to build a big pen for them if you have a large garden or expanse of ground. I am not really comfortable with the idea of house cats (unless for health reasons) but there are so many dangers out there. Rosie is not neautered and she goes out on a harness and lead which she soon got used to, so that is another option. (its also to stop her chasing other cats shes an aggressive lilttle madam ;D ) Unfortunately they are not bright enough to stay away from cars and roads Glad Pumble is on the mend. Vets bills now there is another story!!! :oWhere is James Herriot when you need him?

Kitten box rest- time consuming! Tigga, our damaged rescue, had a broken leg & was blind when we took her home and she had to spend 2 weeks basically living in the cat carrier box. We took her everywhere in it to keep her interested in life (even upstairs to the toilet) and walked around cuddling her of course. After 2 weeks she still wasn't allowed to roam free so we made a pen in the corner of a room out of cardboard. One day I was holding her up to the window & I noticed her eyes tracking a moth which meant we weren't going to have a blind cat after all. Her leg healed too and she grew to be a very loving, though timid, cat.

Oh thats a lovely story Cally. Well done you. It is very satisfying when you can see them improve so much like that. My dear departed Barney was in a very bad way when we rescued him as a kitten but he grew up into the most beautiful friendly cat. They seem to be quite resilient (sp?) & tenacious animals.
How is Pumble behaving zoe?

Just to jerk more tears, we found Tigga at our vets- we were picking up our cat who'd had his teeth done & there was a TINY mewing kitten reaching her (broken) leg out of the bars of a cage. The 'owner' was a serial kitten buyer & they all ended up in a bad way, then she's abandon them because of the vet bills. Tigga was going to be put down on Christmas Eve because they thought she's always be a blind crippled cat. I cried all the way home & before we'd even got out of the car, Phil (oh) said 'we're going to get that kitten, aren't we?' So we brought her home Xmas eve, much to the disgust of our other 2 cats; the dog thought she was his present & fell in love with her. She only lived for 11 years but she was a treasure.

Cally that is lovely the world needs more people like you. Well Pumble is behaving quite well, he is obviously feeling a lot better but I think he is enjoying the extra fuss so much that he doesn't feel the need to be wicked (yet!).

Hi Zoe- I'm assuming Pumble's back to his old (kitten) self. My Finn had a spotty/sometimes scabby nose which I was fretting was feline HIV or something but it turns out it's a mosquito allergy! Never heard of a cat having an allergy- they're usually the cause of allergies.

Yes I can't believe it Pumble is back to his old self although his back leg kicks out a bit when he runs it doesn't bother him. It's amazing he recovered as the car wheel went straight over him and my landrover discovery isn't a light car, I think he was saved by still being young with bendy bones and softish ground.
I'm glad Finn's nose isn't something more serious, does he have to have medicine for his allergy or just put up with it?

Finn's on cortisone tablets for a few weeks. Oddly enough, after all of the hot weather we've had the treees have started turning all autumnal- earliest that I've seen- and so the mozzies are on the wane. It's going to hot up again in the next few days but hopefully no more 40+ days.
My kitten Tigga was also completely run over by a car- cats are phenomenal aren't they? Horses just seem to fall to pieces as soon as they touch something!

I've just noticed that Pumble is a very greedy boy having such a long thread devoted to him Here's a couple of recent photos. I don't think he was impressed by the snow by the face he's pulling ;D

How gorgous! Guess what?? We adopted a cat the other day, well technically she isn't mine, shes for my gran who lives alone, butI sorted everything out for her and actually chose her so I feel responsible for her too. Shes called Tilly, and shes realy timid, but she lets me stroke her now and she purrs away Her previous owner died, and she had to live with this guy and his dog and got no attention bless her, I think her and gran have really clicked Sorry, not wanting to take the attention away from Pumble!! Im loving the snow picture, and his eyes have changed colour?? From blue to goldeny brown? Or do I need glasses too?! Oh yes- for Garej, I chose the adoption place because it had a whole page on FIV cats, and I remember you telling me about them. But there were none there at that time, which is good as it means they are getting homes! Just thought id add that

Good for you mysteryarab, now we have a girl pumblecat as well as a boy! ;D Now just to save future confusion amongst the short sighted - is she a tabby? She looks very ginger in the photo, but I know ginger females are rare - like tortoiseshell males. Hope she is very happy in her new home - I shall be interested to see if she comes out of her shell in a more suitable home! to all cat adopters!
