Hope your move is going (or went?) well! Thanks susan, yes I have moved. But there's a lot of plumbing and other work to be done and I'm at the stage of waiting on tradesmen turning up/being let down by them, etc. Is it the same over there with them? (I suspect it's the same the world over lol) EDIT - to be politically correct I should really say 'tradespeople' - in fact my last plumber was a woman and she was pretty good - sadly I now live too far away for her to come here.

LOL, I live in an apartment complex, there are maintenance people on staff, so repairs aren't an issue for me. From what I gather from my home-owning friends though, you are correct....it's tough the world over! I've been trying to think of a Christmas/winter book, but everything I come up with is kind of pricey (White Winter by Eleanor Helme) or not generally available in the UK (Glenn Balch's Christmas Horse or Winter Horse, Jean Slaughter Doty's Winter Pony). Haffy made the suggestion last year for Patricia Leitch's Horse of Fire, which seems to be available in the US as well as UK, maybe that? Also, just throwing it out there, we'd discussed doing Don Stanford's the Horsemasters in the past, as I think a number of people now own a copy? I don't remember any Christmas passages, but it could just be a Christmas treat, in and of itself

Pony From the Farm by Mary Gervaise takes place during the Christmas holidays. I don't think it's been done yet?

I'm game to try it!
I’ve ordered a copy, as there weren’t any copies in the US and it might take a bit to arrive…thought I’d better get it on its way. There are a couple of copies of Leitch’s Horse From Fire here, so if we go for that it should be easy enough.

Forgot about Pony From the Farm. May be a good one to try as the paperbacks are usually easy to come by and not pricey at all. I've had a quick look for my copy of Horse of Fire but I'ver found all my Jinnys but that one! Typical! (I haven't got round to sorting all my book collection out yet after the move). Whether I can find it or not may influence my choice of book for this year. I'll make a decision either way in the next day or two. Also I thought I'd scan and put up on-line, for a mini bonus-read, a Christma-set short story by Pamela MacGregor Morris from an early Pony Club Annual.

Sounds good, I can go for either!
In the course of finding a copy of Pony From the Farm, I hit on a review of it by Jane Badger, who noted that it had much more pony content than other entries in the series. That was my main objection to the only other I’d read… the holiday one, where they spent all their time on bicycles looking for the cat, while the ponies stood idle in the field 🙄
Excited for the Pamela McGregor-Morris short story, I always enjoy her work!!!

Partly for selfish reasons (as I still can't find Horse Fron Fire) I have decided to go for Pony From the Farm for our group read. I agree with Jane that it's definitely one of the more horsy in the series. A lot are partly school stories, although I don't actually mind that as I like school stories too. I'll get both the threads set up very shortly.

Next year might be a good one for the Jinny book, as I think Jane Badger is republishing the lot, so will be super easy to get, as ebook or paperback. My copy of Pony from the Farm still in transit….it was supposed to arrive today, but I’ve just picked up the mail, and it appears to be running late 🙁
I ordered from the UK as, when I first looked, there weren't any copies in North America. Just checked abebooks again and now there is one in Canada and one in the US, if anyone here wants to join in Most of the copies are in the UK, but there is also one in Australia.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone would like to do a group read of a K. M. Peyton book. as a commemoration of her life and work? As you may know, she passed away just before Christmas.
