Just a bit of silliness - as its Valentines day coming up what pony book characters would you like for your date? Plus who did you have crushes on as a child. As a child I would have loved to have snared Peter McNair as a boyfriend - never forgive Ruth for dumping him! I also must admit to always having a crush on Dick in Flambards, and since reading Blind Beauty again I do like Tom - but they would be far too young for me I think I am more of the age for Major Holbrooke now! Actually I think he would be very interesting to talk to and I wouldnt exactly mind living at his place if he got rid of his wife Straying slightly from pony book territory I have always had a big thing for Aragorn in Lord of the Rings (well it has got horses in it!) even more so after the film version of him turned out to be Viggo Hell, I'd probably even settle for Gandalf nowadays! ;D

I loved Dick too but was then pretty disappointed how he was in Flambards Divided.
Prosper maybe but I can't help finding horrible Nat rather attractive too!

Oh dear time for deep dark secrets...
From the Pony Books - ummm - Lady Anne from Black Beauty, Miss Fanny from Black Ebony, Toni Selwyn Jones from a Day to Go Hunting or Alita from Race for Love, Choices! Can they bring their horse? I have a big soft spot for Jackie from Jackie Won a Pony, could I have an older version? (as long as Misty does n't age - probably my favourite fictional horse). She would be a great date as you would not have to worry about any awkward silences or what to say as I am sure if you asked her about Misty she would n't be stuck for words. I am not sure there is room in her heart for anyone but her horse though...
I should really say Miss Walker, but as I made her up she is of course the perfect woman, and in any case her heart belongs to another...
I am giving away a bit here, but Miss Walker's DNA is made up mainly of two ladies:-
Julia from White Horses, who WAS actually my first crush
(5:15 on was there ever a more beautiful lady with a handsomer horse?)
and Jackie Corkhill from Brookside
who is prettier, incredibly kind hearted and speaks the same language as me, but does n't have the lovely Boris...
Julia or Jackie? Oh dear

Lol tintin lots for you to choose from there! Mind you if you took Jackie (Hope) on a date you'd no doubt have Babs tagging along! And if anyone thinks this thread is a bit silly we were talking in the pub last night about which cartoon characters we fancied...... ;D

And if anyone thinks this thread is a bit silly we were talking in the pub last night about which cartoon characters we fancied...... ;D ;D I'd like to know who you came up with on that! I think we all...females that is....liked Peter McNair. I also liked Jonathan and Alec from the Black Stallion books. But as with Claire and Major Holbrooke, now I am more of an age with Henry Dailey!

Well, this is all fantasy anyway, so I'm going to assume age-appropriateness here -- I certainly agree with Peter McNair, and also that Jonathan Meredith was a pretty great guy, too.
Neil in Anne Emery's Scarlet Royal.
And I'd agree with pre-Flambards Divided Dick!

I wouldn't mind going on a date with Mr. Benn he always ended up somewhere exciting! ;D I actually admitted to quite fancying the bloke that Shrek turns into when he drinks the magic potion in Shrek 2.

When it comes to dating cartoon ladies there is only one... Interesting the comment about Babs tagging along, the Fanes were out of the running because you'd have to chose one or the other and I'm sure the other one would resent it and put a spanner in the works.. I have a very annoying "friend" who I,m sure Babs could be palmed off on Rosie - he flies a huge aircraft, he regularly saves the world, lives on a beautiful tropical island and his Dad's a millionaire. I don't think you need to explain anything... I am surprised none of you ladies has mentioned David from "Three to Ride" etc who is a super bloke, a first class horseman and has a really nice family (always a bonus). Even if you decided he was n't for you it might stir Pat into some sort of action... Attachments:

Can't remember...was he quite buff...? ;D David was a bit of a wimp and a bit too depressing and pessimistic. I have a very annoying "friend" who I,m sure Babs could be palmed off on Can't stop giggling at this ;D

;D Got so sidetracked thinking about Scott and Tintin's flying friend I forgot what I meant to post! Would have to be Meryon for me of course, though back ups would seem to be anyone called Ken! ( Shantih - Flicka - Snowcloud) Thinking of Scott, don't you think Rosie that Alan would suit Claire? Plus of course for Tintin there would be Lady Penelope Oh dear, think Valentines Day is getting to me!

Claire do you like your men blonde? If so Alan would be right up your street No definitely not its gotta to be tall dark and handsome every time! (well one of the 3 will do nowadays maybe) I can't remember which one was which in Thunderbirds I'll have to google them. And I don't know anything about Mr Ben getting his kit off, honest! Well he used to go in this shop and try a costume on in the changing room - now I come to think of it I don't think you saw any flesh i think he just magically went from his usual business man suit to something more exotic (tho I seem to have an image in my head of him standing in the changing room wearing y fronts I don't this was actually shown!) He then used to go on an adventure related to the costume by some magical process. I saw the pic of him in a pink bikini - that was photoshopped I dont think they would have shown cross dressers on 1970s childrens tv! Attachments:

kunuma, I think tintin means the characters in that Thunderbirds puppet series. Papa Thunderbird was rich and they had their airbase on an island, is that right? I looked it up on wikipedia.
I would've only seen the show in reruns IF I had watched it, but I found the puppets too creepy as a kid. Though not as bad as those weird shows that were drawn but had a live actor's mouth appearing in a cutout to do the talking. Those were truly bizarre.

Thank you Rally for pointing that out - I was trying to find ways to break it gently. I'm not sure if it was poor drafting on my part, or over enthusiastic reading on Kunuma's.
I am afraid my "friend" only has a 1 bedroom flat the social pay for, does n't know who his father was and the only tropical island he would ever have is the sort the French gave to Dustin Hoffman in Papillon. By a weird coincedence someone very like him will be appearing in another part of the forum
Sorry 'bout that.
(By the Way I do have another friend who bears an uncanny resemblance to the shop-keeper from Mr Benn, but he's married)

over enthusiastic reading on Kunuma's. ROFL ;D ;D ;D ;D I think Zippy from Rainbow wouldnt be a bad date cos you could always zip up his gob if he started to bore you - I've often wished I could do that on a date before.... I think the less said about Cap'n Pugwash the better! ;D

Curse you ladies! I will never be able to watch Thunderbirds again without every time they proudly declaim "F.A.B!" having the image of Rosie in fits of the giggles appearing in my mind
I always had a feeling about Zippy though, that while perfectly amiable towards them in a social setting, ladies were perhaps not his first choice for more intimate friendships

Sorry Kunuma You and Rosie might be right about us all finding something on Thunderbirds though... With my luck I'd probably end up with Parker! I always had a feeling about Zippy though, that while perfectly amiable towards them in a social setting, ladies were perhaps not his first choice for more intimate friendships Didn't he used to go to bed with Bungle, George and maybe even Geoffrey too? Or is that another trick of my overly fertile childhood imagination....? ;D
