Just to let you know, Ribble was put down today after being ill last night. The vet came out to use and he seemed very peaceful. Probaly looked like a load of nutters, all 8 of us (including the dogs) sitting with him crying. But he was old and I guess it was his time. We waited till I got back from the stables and my brother came back from Derby so we could say goodbye, cos he really was a very special dog.

So sorry to hear about Ribble. It was lovely that he had all his friends with him though. A big hug and lots of love to you. Claire xxx

It is heartbreaking to lose any dog, but you do get those special ones - they leave their pawprints on your heart.
Run free Ribble.

Thanks It was a nice way to go I suppose. Some of our friends arranged a gathering today to toast him and stuff. They own his 'girlfriend' and his daughter. Some of his other kids came too. As my Mum said 'I think Ribble is the only dog to have his own wake.'

And why not? After all pets are people too! He looked like he was a lovely dog - reminds me a bit of a dog called Barney we had a long time ago.
