I trundled up to the tip today and was so p88d off! There was a woman up there chucking boxes of books away in the cardboard recycling bin, it was such a waste as they looked in good nick. Surely it would have been just as easy to take them to a charity shop - she was also chucking kids games away in the landfill bin To add insult to injury the man at the tip wouldn't let me root through the books in the bin grrrr it can't be right!?!

That is annoying. I know recycling is supposed to be green but surely it would be better if the books and games lived on to bring a little ray of sunshine into someone elses life instead of ending up as lav paper or something. Full marks for asking if you could rake thru the bin! Talking of recycling, the local rag n bone man came round and I thought he might take this manky old fridge which was still in the house when I bought it. He wouldnt take that but he did offer to take away my car instead!!!

At the Cats Protection we have to take our recycling to the big bins in a nearby pub (2 mins away). The last time we were there, the council bin men offered us tons of books that were in the bins. Sadly they were too manky and rotten to be sold, but it's the same situation.
No wonder charities are struggling for donations when people just throw things away.

I've tried to take perfectly good stuff from the recycling centre that's been dumped there but I was told it belongs to the council. You aren't even supposed to swap stuff from car to car while you're there
