I bought it and a couple of others because someone (exmoorfan maybe?) said they were very good....as ever I have not got round to reading them yet!
I agree interesting title.

I bought that one because it was based down here - Dartmoor. The main thing I seem to remember about it was someone hiding under a bridge! If you want a more extensive review - LOL - I will have to go and read it again!! ;D

I have read this. It is not bad, although not my fav Mary Treadgold which is The Heron Ride which is IMHO brilliant. Cant give you chapter and verse on the plot as dont have a copy of it anymore. However here is the summary which I have for the book on my website work in progress:
A girl wakes up one day feeling out of sorts with the world. She quarrels with her family, decides that she doesn't want to sell her pony to the boy who was going to buy him and sets off on a camping trip she had no intention of going on. But things get even odder when she finds herself mixed up with two strangers and a vanishing pony. When the real reason for the day’s strangeness is revealed it also saves her from disaster.
Basically a sort of mystery/adventure type pony book with a good twist at the end.

I'd agree with Claire...it's almost more a mystery/adventure book than a pony book, but it was a decent read.
Re Heron Ride....my second favorite of her books, outside of We Couldn't Leave Dinah (another not-quite-a-pony-book). Has anyone read the sequel, Return to Heron?

Yes, I have read Return to the Heron. It is good but not as good as the Heron Ride. Its ages since I read it but as far as I remember the children go back to the heron and Sandra finds a horse with no owner. It is actually quite dark in tone as far as my memory serves me (not very well usually tho!)
On the same subject has anyone read Journey From the Heron, this is a sort of prequel to the other 2 and is set quite a few years earlier. I havent and am trying to find out if it is actually a pony novel. Would prob read it anyway as I love Mary T. Wish she had wrote more books.
