Has anyone else seen this film? I bought it today ( my son choose it) and we sat down and watched it - it's pouring with rain. OMG what a thought provoking, emotional film. I was shouting at the tv at some parts and in floods of tears too. It's set in Germany in the second world war and is the story of a young boywho has to move with his family to a house next to a concentration camp when his nazi soldier father is posted there. I won't give away the plot but it's only a 12 cert so doesn't have graphic scenes, it doesn't need to, your imagination does it for you! I'd love to know if anyone else has seen it and what they think.

I was really interested in seeing it having taught the book the year before, so I was delighted when we got tickets to the premiere in our local cinema. It is a very atmospheric film, even though the cinema stopped it half way through... The manager came in and apologised. "I stopped it on purpose," he says. "We thought there was a bit of a flicker on the screen, so we're just trying to sort that out." A disembodied voice pipes up down the back. "Can you turn up the volume too?" "No!" shouts another voice. The manager looks thoughtful. "How many people would like the volume turned up?" Like enthusiastic schoolchildren, a few hands are raised. "How many people like the volume just the way it is?" More hands go up, including mine. The volume stayed the same. I don't know about the flicker, I'd never noticed it anyway. A special cinema...

Yes I saw it a while back. Very thought-provoking/disturbing film. I think I knew quite soon what was going to happen at the end but it was still heart-rending. One of the scariest things about it tho was the girl being indoctrinated into the whole Hitler Youth thing.

Very thought-provoking. Must say that I liked the book more than the film.
