Having not bought anything on there for months I have just bought a birthday present off there - now can some old hand at this reassure me that it is still solid - as the seller is really worrying me. For starters the address was made up - no question about that - and I can get no reply from her at all, not even the one to combining postage as I had bought two things at once. Well, I went ahead and paid for the stuff because otherwise I would be in the wrong - but still nothing from her- and no goods either! How long do I wait hopefully?? I know all sorts of things can go wrong, having just had a parcel I carefully took to the Post Office to be weighed arrive at the other end with postage owing - but the false address is worrying me!!

Hi kunuma, how did you know the address was made up did you check with the post office website? Or was it just patently silly? If you knew address was def made up you should have contacted ebay and not paid anything. You still should contact them. I assume you paid by paypal. if so you are protected by them if the item does not turn up. I would give it a few days (royal mail count it as offiicially lost in post after 15 working days so you have to wait a couple of weeks) and if no joy then start putting wheels in motion. Nowadays sellers cannot give buyers negative feedback so basically the upper hand is with the buyer. Use this to your advantage in the furture. I must say I have had probably close to 10,000 transactions on ebay and only a handful have been dodgy so I would still say its a reasonably safe way to buy things. You may have just been unlucky

Mysteryarab, when you sell things now it asks you to indicate how soon you will post the item, ie within 3 days, within 5 days, within 10 days etc, so thats prob what the 12-15 days is about.

Oh well, at least I am not the only one waiting hopefully, mine was supposed to come within four days - but now I am just hoping it will come at all! I knew the address was fake because she was supposed to be local to me, and the postcode was completely made up. I emailed and asked why the address was incorrect, and I haven't heard anything since!

I officially hate ebay now...although i still keep buying My account was apparantly phised a month or so back...someone listed a car on my account...only ebay shut my account down overnight before I knew about it and I awoke if you like to about 10 emails from them saying a third party had accessed my account blah de blah. My simple question was 'How did they know it was a third party listing on my account exactly?' Their answer...we cannot tell you our procedures as it may enable these poeple to learn our workings and commit further crimes. My theory...their computer system had a blip and listed someones item on my account rather than their own, hence ebay immediatly knowing and cancelling said item. I mean why would you list on someone else's account...okay fee avoidance but it's gonna get sussed before the item is sold in 9 out of 10 cases I'd say....surely better to buy and pay with their money........they never responded to my theory anyhow! To me that spoke volumes...bloody incompetent monkeys

I finally got my ebay spoils - did you get yours?? Haffy that's crazy! Hope they've sorted it out - it's quite scary really that we send complete strangers money in the hope they will send us the thing we want.
