Sorry but i have NO horse friends or family to ask,i will keep all my questions to this thread from now on . 1) I have realy only owned lovely (crazy, mad)Arabs in the past so im not too sure about other types. I have been offerd, for free a ''super quiet 5yo TB 4 months OTT''...I say no dont i??....Is there even such a thing. 2) I recived an email reply to an obvious scam from ''shippihg animal orphanage''. THEM-animal orhanage will provide you with a QUIET horse or pony if at all you promise to take very good care of the quiet horse, at very cheap price ME-Would be very interested in a rescue horse. Have been searching for one for months but only found dealers after a quick buck and and i do not want to support current false rescue scams that seem to be everywere right now. THEM- We are not like that. ME-Could you tell me where you are located and what horses you may have avalible?. Do you have a web page that i could look at. THEM-we were having a website but now is close due to some problems we were having, but now is ok and we are trying to bring it up as soon as possible because this has make us to loose so many oy our customers, well my ofice is located at Brisbane Northside, and we have a car for transporting the horses free of charge to your destination Azteca (horse) Balearic (horse) Balikun (horse) Baluchi (horse) Ban'ei Banker Horse Barb (horse) etc there are many please just tell me which one you want (All wikipedia links : Luky im not totaly stupid to fall for that but should i play along a bit and see if i could catch them out?.

Never seen that scam before. You could try and get more info from them if you intend to report it. BTW yes there are quiet TBs! Well, a few

Check out the TB, they can be OK. That scam sounds totally dodgy- try and catch them out by asking something like what size are they- you need a 97 for instance. There aren't many rescue places that rehome and I'm not sure where you are; DCH in Sydney, Cedar Springs in Vic. Kalimbah near the ACT retrains and sells standies at decent prices. I'm in the same boat- bought Horse Deals today and there's lots of good horses but too expensive for me!

I have nothing agasinst TB's,just the ''of the track'' bit lol. Im going to look at her today,no harm in looking i guess and a free horse would be good . I cant belive how expensive average horses are these days....5 years ago you could buy an potential olympic horse for these prices . Cally im on the NSW/QLD border, there are a few rescue places in QLD but they have no rescues at the moment.

I'm going to meet an ex racer on Saturday who is described as having a puppy dog nature! Out of 13 starts he came last 11 times- and 2nd last twice. He's owned by a racehorse retrainer/riding instructor who wants him to have more attention now he's not ridden as a school horse due to a hock injury, but he should be fine for trail riding 3-4 times a week (no jumping or intensive dressage- fine with me!).
Hopefully I'll part lease him, so fingers crossed!
Back to RDA after hols tomorrow but 7yo son ill today so maybe only a half day. Tinuveil- my mum-in-law lives in Nambucca Heads. WET up there!!!

My friends ex racehorse that I ride is a lamb. He doesn't spook or do anything naughty and his brakes are good - the only thing he struggles with is standing still! He is about 18 so I don't know what he was like when he stopped racing, but I'd imagine they're like all horses - some are easier than others. I've got my fingers crossed that you both find lovely new horses.

Aaargh! Strained/sprained my wrist today grooming the weeniest pit pony type munchkin that we have, I'm not even sure how I did it! And I've got to ride this horse tomorrow, so it's anti inflammatories and codeine, and hope that he can neck rein.

Aggghhh...This is going to take ages!!. The TB was lovely natured, total sweety.....but LAME in both front legs,my vet just said NO,raced to hard and young and is in pain and will never be sound, they are giving her away as a riding horse or broodmare (Love to see them carry a baby while lame ). I am tempted to take her and let her retire bu my vet sai he will try to find a home for the poor girl . Im getting quite depressed actually. Between all the ''2 year olds running with ''appy's'' and we are reducing numbers'' (why are you letting your filly's run around with stallions then) and the broken down poor forgotten horses,i just want to take them all. Gahhh... need to harden up or i will end up a horse hoarder (or a total mess because i cant buy them all....lucky i don't go to sales ).

Nor I Tinuveil- going to a sale would have me in tears, attacking the doggers etc.
The TB I tried out was VERY forward and responsive to the point where I'm not sure if I could ever ride him in an arena because he associates it with work (ie. trotting or cantering ALL the time). Riding back to the yards along the dirt road he was much more relaxed and so was I but he trips an awful lot. The agistment owner's daughter who I know from the RDA says he's unsound, but I'm more concerned that I don't feel any rapport between us. So, I'm also going to try out a 14.2 chestnut gelding with the softest coat and biggest eyes, 19yrs and ok for beginners this week at $1500- my OWN pony hopefully by the end of this week!?!!! And the agistment place is surrounded by mountains, everyone seems really friendly and the horses all beautiful and well cared for. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!! I hope you have better luck soon Tinuveil- it's so frustrating searching.

I'm a bit of a techno disaster but I will nag my OH to do something about photos soon. Busy as all get out this week- riding (hopefully) today and Thurs on the above horses, RDA, son's 8th b'day and Phil and my 17th anniversary on Friday so lots of shopping, cleaning and baking this week. Too much to do, not enough time and energy to do it all!
