Hurrah back in internet land - exactly as promised by O2. Everything was so quick and smooth I can hardly believe it!
As you may have gathered (if you havent already read my other post) I have finally snapped and given Tiscali the boot. They were faffing about saying they could not reconnect me cos the old account holders account was still active and they even told me I had to go onto the connections dept and cancel it in her name - they gave me all her details!!! Anyway the upshot is she had deffo cancelled cos I rang her, I had the phone line checked by other ISPs and it was not being used, so I knew that Tiscali was for some reason telling porkies and was not going to reconnect me without possibly weeks of hassle. Despite still having 5 months contract left I had no choice but to dump them. Just spent about 2 hours writing an extremly long and nasty letter to Tiscali and I am now going to send copies of the whole lot to Ofcom, Watchdog and the other body whose name I cant remember. I am refusing to pay the outstanding contract and am billing them for the letters written and phone calls made!
So far O2 is fab they sent the router in 2 days and in 6 days since ordering it I am connected! Will have to see what speeds and streaming video are like now.
Glad the internet is sorted as more probs with house (I am a magnet for everything) been kept awake for the last few nights by a loud banging going on for hours and finally tracked the possible cause down as a loose chimney pot which is swaying in the breeze. Looks like it will fall with a gust of strong wind and could do some real damage if it landed on someone or went thru mine or the neighbours roof. I am now waiting for a builder to come and remove it.
Sorry hope I havent bored everyone stiff with all this, you will prob be wishing my internet was still off!
But I am really happy to be back!
