Yes I must admit I blubbed at the end too. I think the reason the book/story has been so popular is the down to earth quality of it, the petty squabbles and the very real little worries of a teenage girl. When that is contrasted to the horrific end to the story it is terribly shocking. This was a brilliant production which captured it all.
And I agree we must never forget or let younger generations forget.

I have the book but I never made it past the first few pages... and I watched a version of it in a RE lesson I think. Its dead sad

mysteryarab If you can still get the TV version on BBC iplayer I would really recommend watching it Ann was not much younger than you are so you can probably relate to the character even better than us old farts!
