Claire and anyone else who watches TV episodes on the net, what is the best site for watching/downloading episodes that have only been shown in the States?? Can't wait till they decide to show it over here!  |

Hi kunuma, I hope you are not suggesting I do anything as illegal as download TV shows!!!
The best way to watch such programmes is to download them from a bit torrents site such as mininova. Not sure how much you know about it kunuma but to do so you will need to download a special application from the net and also a special programme to watch them. You also need a reasonable fast computer as slow ones take forever to download them. Sounds a bit complicated but fairly easy once you get into it.
There are some sites where you can watch streaming videos of US shows ( a la iplayer) but most of these only work in the USA or are poor quality. Everyone I know goes the bit torrents route.
I have heard that google are going to be providing a streaming video service some time in the future but can't find any solid info about it.

Goodness no Claire, I just needed er,,,, up to date advice as I have heard  that some of the sites are no longer available. I've got a veeeeeeeeeeeeery slow computer (BT so about half a meg  ) but I can watch You tube on this one, whereas I couldn't before - have to try one of those streaming ones to test. Where I get confused is over some things you can watch without downloading them, and some you have to download, I really want the ones I can just watch! |

The only ones I watch without downloading are the british ones iplayer, itv.com and the channel4 one whatever its called. I download the the usa stuff. What sites have you been using?

 I daren't ask about the making babies!! But - should love a technical explanation about the streaming sites. I get that downloading off a torrent you store it on your computer and watch it, I used to use something called donkey and another one I can't remember, but now I find these streaming sites where you appear to just be able to watch it without downloading it, and for free! As with everything that seems too good to be true, I'm wondering if there is a snag somewhere to these sites!  Just realised looking at your post again Claire that they probably won't work on my computer if you need an iplayer, that must be the snag!! ;D Just to add, I have found it on mininova too! Thanks Claire.

Kunuma, we regularly have people looking at us in a very funny way, when we mention that Julian goes to work every day, takes his clothes off, and makes babies - well over a thousand in the last 10 years! You're not the only one who doesn't dare ask. As to the technical question - Julian's asleep at the moment, but I'll ask him as soon as he wakes up. I should think he gets pretty tired at work!! |
