Hi all.
I have just finished reading perfect ponies by Lucy daniels and am now onto Quest by Elizabeth Wynne.
My husband has ordered me 3 books for christams but I am going to get through Quest in a couple of days and be bookless.
Dream of Fair Horses Riding School Summer Janet Young rider.
Which I am really excited about. The dream of fair horses was because I saw a thread where Claire said it was brilliant so I now have to read it.
Can anyone else recommend a book which is about a riding school type story or anything similar to perfect ponies as I really enjoyed that book.
Would love to sample Caroline Akrill books but cant get hold of them for love nor money :-)
Thanks in advance.

For a riding school story, I'd recommend The Ponies Next Door by Judith Berrisford, and any of the Silver Eagle Riding School books by Primrose Cumming...the last (Rivals to Silver Eagle) is expensive, but the first two (The Silver Eagle Riding School, Silver Eagle Carries On) are fairly easy to find and not too expensive.

Try the Jill series by Ruby Ferguson- A stable for Jill is good but reading them in order is the way to go, and the 1st, Jill's gymkhana, has a bit about a riding school too. Also, 10 ponies and Jackie by Judith Berrisford.

Oh yes I was going to recommend 10 ponies and Jackie too. I love books about running stables it was always my dream. Try Samantha Alexanders Riding School series. Its a modern series out about the same time as the Perfect Ponies books and as its title suggests is all about a riding school. Ten Week Stables by Sylvia Scott White is also quite a nice story about two girls runnig their own stables but is not that easy to find. The sequel Pony Pageant is easier to get hold of and is quite a nice little story.
I'm sure I'll be able to think of more!

Almost forgot Horses and Heather by Gillian Baxter!
Somewhat off the topic, but Bright Spurs by Armine von Tempski, about two sisters running a guest house with stables in Hawaii (many years before Black Pony Inn made it's bow), is a good read....it's been in print in paperback fairly recently, with original text and Paul Brown internal illustrations, though with revised cover art. Available used pretty inexpensively on Amazon.co.uk

Brilliant thank you everyone. Going to get searching. I wish the books wernt all so short they always seemed a lot longer when I was younger :-)

Happy hunting, Happy!
I know what you mean re shorter books...they do go quickly. Bright Spurs is probably the longest of the titles suggested at 283 pages. The Silver Eagle books come in just under 200, so there is a bit more there than in some of the others too.
