OK - now I am most definitely not "down with the kids" , although I do know what a Pokemon is, and have watched Sponge Bob! My music taste is probably the nearest - my sister has not forgiven me for introducing my nephew to drum and base!! But what the heck is an emo?? Everyone I have asked thinks the same as me, as large flightless bird with spelling difficulties!

An emo stands for a emotional. They are teenagers who listen to bands such as My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco and Hawthorn Heights. They slit their writs because their life is so sad and have long fringes over one eye. Its half way between Goths and Scene kids. The boys are very skinny, and they wear black as their main colour. They only socialise in their groups and invade parts of town, making innocent shoppers feel uneasy... www.fashionshanty.com/images/emo/girls-emo-haircut.jpgIs that a boy or a girl!? Ok all that was very sterotypical of me, but I wanted to get the point; however, I listen to all those bands but am not emo. Not all emos self harm, and I have friends that are emos so are not all anti social misunderstood teens. But lots are. We like taking the mick out of them.... Hope this helped!

Kunuma I'm so glad you asked this question, I bid on some shoes on ebay which were described as emo/punk/rave now punk and rave are old friends of mine but emo had me stumped! thank goodness for mysteryarab who can educate us!

I can't knit and I do still listen to bands like Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen, as well as music from the 1920s and 30s- you know, stuff that Fred Astaire would've danced to- but Marilyn Manson and all that death and doom stuff- YUK.
And DON'T get me started on rap music, especially that misogynistic pimp rubbish....

Thanks for that Mystery Arab!! Never could understand why kids have such a desire to all look the same and hang out together doing the same things - even as a kid my reaction was to want to do the opposite to what the 'masses' did!! ;D That's the good thing about having to look after four legged or two legged responsibilities I guess, too busy worrying about them to worry about one's own finer feelings! Have to show off my new knowledge now somehow - managed to hold my own in an argument with my nephew over the relative merits of Razorlite or the Killers (he supported the first, me the latter!) so I'm doing well this week!
