Not an expert but we have a couple of cold water goldfish, Graeme Garden and Gordon Bennett- Graeme originally came with Bill and Tim but they bellied up over the years.
And we do have a cat, a very naughty young man called Finnegan, and the lounge room door is closed at night with the rats and the guinea pig (on cold nights) staying in there with the fish. Animals are a lot of work!

I had some tropical fish as a kid but can't remember very much about them and had the obligatory goldfish that my dad used to win for me at the fair

Kunuma my brother has kept a lot of fish of all types. Have you a problem? I can ask him for advice. From what I have experienced they seem to be the hardest bloomin things to keep alive of any living thing!

Oh sorry mysteryarab, only just noticed you had posted! Well it isn't very exciting, just that I have a very elderly and nervous 14 year old fish, and another tank full of batty youngsters - much much tinier than the old one, and I wanted to put them all together but wasn't sure if this was a good idea or not I'm going to do it gradually now - just need to move the wretched tanks first somehow! Stupidly the first little fish was bought as a replacement companion for whichever old one was left on her own, but they went on so long - I had to get companions for the companions ;D ;D - Now the cat lives up there with them, so I had to make cat proof tops - why I always live in a zoo I just don't know!! At least my orphan wild mice have now grown up and been released!
