Hi! I am seeking a children's horse book that I lost to a fire. I have been unable to find this book. The title was Sparkles the Pony or Sparkle the Pony. I don't remember the author. It was a square, hard cover book with a black & white pinto pony on the cover.
The story featured the life of the pony from birth (showed a grey/white mare give birth) to life growing up with his buddies, to learning to carry kids at a riding stable. The ponies were Shetlands but I don't remember if they were ever identified by that breed in the book.
After the story, a short section on pony care was given using the ponies in from the story.
Some of the pages are I remember are the birth of Sparkle(s) (grey mare giving birth to a black pinto colt); the young ponies in an enclosure during the winter where one of Sparkle's pals (a chestnut filly) climbs into the feed trough in the building, a trail ride of ponies where one of the kids falls off another pony, a page of different kids riding Sparkle(s) doing poles, barrels, and jumping. It was illustrated with very lifelike drawings and featured short paragraphs per page.
I got this book when I was young, 3 or 4 years old and I'm 37 now. I have never seen another copy of it. I'm seeking another copy of it OR any additonal information (author, publisher, copyright date, illustrator, etc). Anyone ever heard of it?
I've been searching for over 5 years now. This was my favorite book as a child and I had planned to keep it in my horse book collection for life and possibly pass it down to my son and/or his kids in the future. When I lost a bunch of my book collection to a fire, I was devestated but had no idea it would be so hard to find this book again or any info on it!
Any help appreciated! Thanks!
