This series has me laughing out loud more than most pony books i have read. What is your fave/lol/sarcastic quote from the Henry/noel books?.

I totally agree with you. Its a pity but there is a dearth of humour in the pony book genre, but Josephine (talking after mother Joanna) is great at humour. It must be almost time for my annual re-read of the series so I will post some of my fav quotes when I've read 'em. But I think some of the funniest stuff comes in Pony Club Camp especially when Gay and the major are discussing marriage. I also love the major and his wife talking. Josephine does adult characters really well!

I like the bit in Six Ponies when the Major has to go to Switzerland after his son is injured. I think it's one of the Radcliffes who says" You know, the middle one, the scientific one....he's fallen off a mountain and is hovering between life and death" There is no where in the book (my copy is the Armarda version, where we here whether he recovers or not. Does anyone know? Is there more detail about this in the first addition? I think that Radney Riding Club is the funniest; Henry and Eric have some great lines. The adults are really well described; but I think only older readers would get some of the ironies....such as Mrs Thornton's scheme to "revive old crafts in cottage homes". One can just imagine her as an upper class liberal attempting to raise the educational status of the poor in rather a limp way. Wonder whether she volunteered at the Marie Stopes clinic as well?!!
