OMG have seen an amazing sight today!!! Been out today and floods all over the roads, driving in about 2 foot of water at one point. Went into Richmond and the River Swale has burst its banks. I could not believe what I saw. Its huge, looks more like the Amazon. Never seen anything like it in real life it had great big waves on it! Also the waterfall which is normally a smallish affair is now a gigantic cataract. Here is a pic of it on a normal day: And this is what it looked like today: I took a couple of vids of it. Posted them here if anyone interested. Hope you can see them. They should work if u click on the pictures below it takes you to a link where you can play it. Still can't get over it! Anyone else had floods?

Crikey claire thats scary..We had them last year.. But apart from some heavy rain at times not so bad at the mo.It seems west and north must be worst affected this time.. Altho we had a sudden thunderstorm yesterday afternoon which took the electric out..Was on the computer and thought I had been struck by lightening.! We were off for an hour and a half so The team was a welcome distraction..

That's amazing - looks like what we had two days ago got up to you yesterday! I also thought it was the ultimate irony, that I came in from staggering about in flooded fields to relax on the computer, and found flippin' floods there too!

Fingers crossed for all of you that everyone- horses included, naturally-are safe. We are in drought down here, but it's got to the point that we don't even call it that anymore, it's just the way the climate is, now.

We didn't flood badly this time thank god, last summer was a nightmare I got stuck in car going to check nags, water was so deep it was pouring in through door. I had to be rescued by Gertie[other half's off road landrover]. Managed to check horses though-half their field had turned into river and they were stood at the edge wondering where the grass had gone. I've got photos somewhere if anyone interested, although not sure how to put them on here, I'll have a go anyway.

How awful getting stuck! Some of our roads flooded but managed to dirve thru ok. The year before I missed it all as I was living in a differnt place which never floods.
That water looks very muddy!
