Hi all just wondering who else has read them and what they think of them.
I have actually read all 3 thru in order for the first time. I quite like the books they have a certain charm, although I think Kingdom for a Horse is by far and away the best Dorian Williams book.
Wendy I feel is a bit of a drip and has about as much charisma as a wet dischcloth. (I prefer Deidre) And yet funnily enough have you noticed she is a bit of a man-magnet? ;D There is Tiv, the stable boy at the Whittles (forgot his name), Robbie the showjumper, Lord what-his-name who sends her a brooch, that bloke who organises the display, Mr Whittle and even Roger Lovell's unpleasant personality is softened a little by her.
Also I thought quite a few 'dodgy' bits. We have another famous 'spanking session' (I knew there was another book other than Grey Arrow that featured spanking haffyfan!) where a 16 or 17 year old girl is put across a mans knee and given six of the best (ooo-er missus!). Then there is all that business with Mr Whittle who sends Wendy's friend Deidre away for the night and comes into her bedroom. Mercifully nothing happens but you cant help wonder what was in the authors mind.
Another thing she doesn't half go thru horses. In the space of about 2 years in which the series is set she has 3 of them!

This series is high up on my wants list - though I think I have Wendy goes to Wembley - but want to read books in correct order. I liked Kingdom for a Horse and also Pancho.
Did he write any other fiction books?

ooh your right Claire, I forgot about that one! M'mmm and the bedroom thing ...some of us clearly have minds like sewers!! (sp?) I really like these, although agree that pancho and Kingdom are better written, I actually like Wendy...she has an endearing charm and well i'm probably a bit of a drip too so can identify with her and her blunders. Sarah i don't think so, but theres a compilation of pony stories I think and Jane Badger found a reference to Wendy Abroad but nothing else (British lib I think).

He wrote a book about a dog (can't remember the title will see if its on my website) but no other pony books as far as I know. Pity really. British lib is notoriously innacurate but it would be nice if another wendy one came to light.
haffyfan - you, a drip I somehow think not! ;D
