I thought I'd rather Not Gallop was caroline Akrill's first book and therefore the 1st in the showing trilogy. However, thanks to sarah, having jsut read Caroline Canters Home it would seem this is the first in the trilogy. The publishing dates are later though Also I cannot remember any refernces to the win at Hoys in Gallop but haven't read it for a while. Please help!

Yes, I realised that there was something odd about the order too but you have beat me into starting a thread about it!
I'd rather not Gallop was published first but it obviously comes after Caroline Canters Home in a time-line. In 'Gallop' Simon tells Mr Marmalade that Caroline won the small hack of the year comp previously. Also it does seem as if caroline has just met her aunt and cousins in CCH. Not sure where If I Could Ride fits into the chronology tho as havent read it. Anyone who has....seahorse?.....let us know please!
Possibly Caroline Akrill had written all 3 stories, or outlines for them, before they were actually published. After the success of Gallop perhaps she then decided to get them published. Also I wonder if any of them were first published in Pony magazine (at least in part) as there is a paragraph thanking the mag for the use of some of the following pages in CCH

Claire there is your right and also about the Mr Marmalade part...I must have missed that as haven't read gallop for years. Also In canters Mr Duffy and Mrs Carter don't know Caroline and I'm sure Mrs Carters son (Adrian/Nigel?) and Sarah are older in Gallop than Canters.
If I could Ride is def the third as they pack up the stud and turn into a training centre/venue.
