I read a book a long time ago and for the life of me can't remember the title or even the author. It was a library book and I unfortunately did not make a note of the details before taking it back. If anyone recognises this let me know as I really enjoyed it and would like to find it again:
There were 2 'novellas' in one book. The first one was about a unicorn. The second one was about 2 ghosts who meet (in a cemetary I think) and fall in love. The author I think was a man.
Yes, quite a quirky book but seem to remember it was very well written and enjoyable and has certainly stayed with me for many years.
Hope it rings a bell with someone!

No bell at all!! Odd as I thought I had read most things with ghosts in and most things with unicorns in - never found the two together though! If you find it - I'd like to read it!

Could this be a Peter Beagle omnibus? The Last Unicorn and A Fine and Private Place sound like the books you're looking for. Here are the lines from the inside of my US omnibus (Beagle is a British author):
Last Unicorn: The last unicorn on earth, who does not look "anything like a horned horse, as unicorns are often pictured, being smaller and cloven-hoofed, and posessing the oldest, wildest grace that horses have never had".....
A Fine and Private Place: Two young people, Michael and Laura, whose growing romance --abbetted by an old recluse and a raven who talks like a Damon Runyon character -- is complicated by the fact that both of them are ghosts...

Even if it is not the Last Unicorn, it still will be very enjoyable as I have the DVD which I enjoy very much. But it makes me cry each time so I darent watch it too much.
No idea about the book though.

Garej you are a genius. That is the one!!!! Actually I have in fact seen the DVD but didn't connect it to the story at all, as I couldn't remember it and thought it was for adults whereas the dvd was a childrens film. Is the film actually the same as the story? But the story about the ghosts definitely clinches it. I can even remember the blurb now you wrote it out! Off to the library next week to see if I can find it, if not ebay. Kunuma I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
