I haven't listened to the podcast but it could be I Wanted a Pony by Diana Pullein Thompson. It was referenced in a song called I Wanted a Pony by Amanda Applewood. I am sure that Amanda Applewood was a character in Jill and the Perfect Pony by Ruby Ferguson.

I am sure that Amanda Applewood was a character in Jill and the Perfect Pony by Ruby Ferguson. Also, the main character's name was Becky and she becomes a vet at the end. That's how they're reunited

Yes, it has been really difficult to find because of the quantity of books. Please tell me it sounds familiar. Any help would be greatly appreciated

From the podcast, I would guess it's a USA horse story so hopefully one of our American members will recognise it. Unfortunately doesn't ring a bell with me. It may have just been an audio tape and never a book, in which case it will be pretty hard to track down. But we will try!

I appreciate any and all help. Thank you!

Any leads? I also believe the audiobook may have been purchased in Southern California in the 80s

Just a thought, but that podcast has a link for comments, why not just ask? "Hey, loved the podcast, I recognize a book referenced and really want to track it down again, any chance you know what it is, or could ask the speaker to identify it?" Or words to that effect.
Mostly people who do these podcasts are very cheered to find that someone is out there listening, so I'd bet they'd accommodate a request like that if they could!

I would assume if someone listened and knew theyd leave it in the comment section. It's a hard book (possibly audio only) book to track. Thought I would branch it out on here
