Not sure if this will be available outside the UK. If you haven't listened to it yet, I think you may enjoy it. Love hearing KMP talking about her love for horses, although it's just a short bit. Sorry boys, it's mainly a exploration of the female connection to the pony book. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07wgkz8Be interested to hear what people think of it. Not sure about the menopausal bit, according to her we are all using ponies/pony books as a substitute for romance and sex!!! Susannah Forest talks the most sense - about ponies/pony books being empowering for girls, giving them equality with boys. Also she emphasises that young girls' love for horses is NOT about sex, that old chestnut is defo a male preoccupation lol. Fun spotting the various pony books that are quoted too.

I did start to listen to it, but the woman drove me mad!! First of all she said we all went off horses when we found men and had children etc - er no, I've always preferred horses - even when I was married!! Then she started on about it being a power trip! At that point I gave up I'm afraid. Though I tell you what was interesting, it played really badly which surprised me being from the BBC, I'd just watched a video from America with less jumps in it!! Sounds like there was more sense in it later on so perhaps I should have hung in there!

Yeah I think Susannah Forest gave a better showing than Ms. Rosoff, or at least her words were more in keeping with the attitude of us lot! Also it seems we may have learned a little about Ms. Rosoff's sex life that she perhaps didn't mean to let on... Going back to Ms. Forrest, I think I may have the book she has written. Will have a little look for it on the shelves as don't think I ever got round to reading it.

I have yet to listen to it but I have it recorded on my freesat box so I will return to this thread when I have listened to it.
