I found a load of books in a skip the other day and took them to the British Heart Foundation Shop (I did have to endure a lecture from a passing deaf old man on the evils of putting books in the skip and how I should take them to the charity shop...)
I did go through them first and was surprised and delighted to find "The Indian in the Cupboard"
I had loved this as a boy on "Jackanory" (for the non-UK readers on here a TV programme where actors or celebrities read childrens books aloud)
I have now read the book and it is even better than I remembered. Absolutely terrific book - even more delighted to find there are sequels.
Any other fans on here?

That's one I completely missed as a child. Can't even recall it on Jackonary! I'll have to find a copy now thanks to your recommendation

Many thanks Tintin for sending me the book to read. I've started it and am enjoying it so far. Looking at the publishing date I realised why I missed it as a child. I would have been about 11 or 12 when it was first published and apart from pony books, I read mainly adult books by then. I was a precocious little brat!
