I cannot create a post in the relevant section so i've had to add it here.
If everyone is in agreement, I thought it best to select the titles we have access to read from the suggestions for the poll. This way we can see which ones people have and go with something that most can easily access? We can always vote which one, if several are similar numbers, in a few days time.
Any better ideas or anyone feeling more decisive please speak up.

Just a disclaimer, lol, I have Tan and Tarmac but I won't ever be trying to read it again!

Sounds like a plan, haffy! I actually turned out to have a number of the books, and I wouldn't have said I had many Christmas-y titles at all!
I do want to read Black Hunting Whip, a title everyone else covered a few years back, but would put it aside for Ponies Plot....bit more iffy about re-reading Tan and Tarmac (which I actually liked a lot!) or Phantom Horse, just because they'd both be re-reads for me, and I'm in the mood for something new (well, given the age of these books, new-to-me would be more accurate!)

Just a note, I just ordered one other....Secret of the Old Sleigh...a Linda Craig mystery by Ann Sheldon. I think you had the whole lot of that series, didn't you? (Though with what shipping in the US is like, I may not see it till after Christmas!)

I'm actually reading "Tan and Tarmac" right now. It's...unusual. I may have Ten Ponies and Jackie, I can't remember, but I can't stand Jackie and Babs so I stopped collecting their books and haven't read them in years. Would rather not, to be honest!
I do love Horse of Fire though. Good Christmas read.

I can't seem to edit the poll but yes i have the Linda Craigs, apart from that Scorpio one, which to my knowledge no one quite knows if actually exists or not. I don't mind them at all so would happily read that too.

Thanks again for doing this and saving my bacon haffy! I have changed permissions so you ahould be able to do everything in the reading group section. Unfortunately pooboards doesnt allow anyone to edit polls just delete them!
Regarding Tan and Tarmac, I agree that we should possibly avoid that one as a lot of us did it in the Summer Reading Group a year or two ago also I have given up trying to read it after 4 attempts! But I will happily go with anything else that is chosen.

I only have Tan and Tarmac out of those choices and as Claire says we've already done that one. And I really don't want to read a Jackie even if I still had them lol So I think I'll pass again. Maybe next time!

Rosie I'll send you my Jinny or the Jackie ones, no wriggling out of it, if I have to read a Jackie book I'll need company to help me rant about it. My top vote would of course be for Jinny!! In fact I'll read it tonight so it is ready to be borrowed!!

Ive got Jinnys and Jackies I can lend to anyone too. I dont know if there is much scope for discussion in the Jackie ones tho. I quite fancy the Jinny book but I'm happy to do any of them. Its very relaxing letting someone else organise things lol.

LOL...maybe we can hide in the same corner, Rosie....I can't stand either the Jackies or the Jinnys (though I actually love Patricia Leitch' non-series books). Gave away every book, some were hardcover too!

Interesting to see the titles many people have strong feelings regarding are the most commonly owned still. Not sure who has voted so shall we run it over weekend and maybe take the most popular on Sunday evening to use to make a choice?

I haven't read Phantom Horse for yonks, can't even remember there being a Christmas in it!!! No i didn't recall it either but just checked and it is! It would interesting to hear our American friends thoughts on it, I think, I can't help wondering if it's a bit like all those English Authors in the pony club range of books read to us, very seemingly 'British' pony stories with a few alien words and phrases to convert them for the American market (I assume).

Well it looks like Phantom is going to be our choice unless any of the others suddenly has an influx of votes. I don't think Phantom Horse had am American edition at all (correct me if I am wrong anyone) so any bloopers will not be an attempt to 'Americanise' the book for the US market at least. CPT did I think visit the USA? We did discuss doing either this book or Riders From Afar as a reading circle book some time in order to see what the UK and USA people made of it so I think it will be a good choice. I've got at least 2 copies of it so I can send one off to anyone who wants it.

If everyone is in agreement it looks like we have a clear winner in Phantom Horse. I actually quite like the first two stories in this series I have to admit so it certainly won't be a chore to reread. Are the PB's abridged does anyone know, any editions in particular as there have been several.? I do have a lovely 1st i bought off ebay several years ago but also have at least one paperback copy kicking around i'm pretty sure.
It's also available as an ebook, although more expensive than buying a pb copy i'd say as it's £3.99. I was quite surprised at that considering it's not a new release/best seller. (Must have been a good seller in it's day though to have been reprinted so many times and to still be in print now)

There's also a new paperback edition out I see, though dont know about abridgement etc. Well we have 10 votes for Phantom Horse so I am expecting 10 people to take part in the reading circle lol. I know your names lol. Rosie I will post out the pb version of Phantom as its cheaper to send, maybe you could pass onto Fizz if she doesn't find a copy. Unless anyone has a spare one they could lend her. Thanks for organising this haffy. I will set up the reading circle post as you've done all the hard work lol.

I've got a 1st with dustwrapper. To find out if it's abridged just compare the first few chapters with an Armada edition? Most of the books they cut were much longer, but think a few shorter ones were abridged too.

Claire have you posted it yet? I'll take it off your hands Kunuma if no one else has bagged it and Claire hasn't posted me her copy yet. I can imagine you'd want to get rid of it if hunting is involved

Claire have you posted it yet? I'll take it off your hands Kunuma if no one else has bagged it and Claire hasn't posted me her copy yet. I can imagine you'd want to get rid of it if hunting is involved Strange - I do remember thinking that the first Phantom book was better than the later ones which got progressively more weird story lines - but I had managed to block out the hunting part so completely I was quite shocked to rediscover it! I think I distracted myself trying to work out what breed he was and how a broken in home bred four year old that had been running free for four months could be described as a wild horse!!! Firefox has updated itself today and my computer of course is now totally up the creek - I wish they would leave well alone - anyway it's taken ages to type this and I just meant to say Rosie pm me your address and I'll post it next time I go near a post office.
