Hi folks a comment I made in another thread has got me thinking - which books have you been meaning to read or have been on your TBR (to be read) pile for the longest time? And do you think you'll ever read them lol. I must admit I don't have a huge amount as if I dont read them within a certain time I tend to just sell them. But if you're not a bookseller then I guess they could build up. Oh and what books have people recommended to you and you've thought I must read that only to realise its been a few years and you still haven't got round to it?
Latter category for me as I said in the other post, are the Mousie books by Shelley Peterson which I have been meaning to read since just about when this forum started!!! Some which have been on my TBR list for ages include Wandy the Wild Pony, all of the Kit Hunter books except the first one, 2 books by Glenn Balch which I have even forgotten what they are called. The prize for longest probably goes to Dinah the Dartmoor by Allen Seaby which has been lurking there since the dawn of time (well maybe about 8 years or so). I have read a couple of his other books and found them as dull as dishwater so have only looked at the pics in this one (which it must be said are lovely). I can't even sell it as the cat dribbled all over it - and possibly even had a small tinkle on it! (she had a thing for smelly old books). I sonehow doubt I could even give it away now lol.

I love this idea for a thread...will have to check out my candidates when I get home. There is one pile of 10 or so books that have been piled up for so long I almost forget what is there. I do know that one of the proposed books for the October Group Read, The Binding Spell, is in it!

LOL...well, I wouldn't go THAT far Seriously though, I'd read it if it was everyone's choice, but I don't think it's very available outside of the US.

Great idea...my contribution will probably be vast...oh dear!
The Seaby books are also there for me, several Marguerite Henry's (I've never actually even read Misty...and i did have it as a child!) Applegate, Phari, Pony from Tarenella (sp), Kyburie, Monica Edwards bar Wish for A Pony, The Black Beauty's family books bar velvet, Hilda Boden's Pony girl/boy, little Grey pony, Most of Elinore Havers. Will I ever read them...quite possibly not, i guess i would have by now if i was going to quite possibly!
Anyone else got any 'why didn't i read this sooner' books? One of mine has to be pat Leitch's Highland Pony trek, had it years and only read it in last year. I also had Alison Lester's Snow pony a long while before tackling it.

Don't have a TBR pile Would love one! Anyway, I have read quite a lot of the books mentioned that people haven't read and my advice is...... don't read them lol The Seaby books are just boring, Applegate is dire, Phari and Kyburie boring,Black Beautys family ditto. Do magazines count, I have a big pile of Horsey ones to read that someone gave me....

Long list haffy lol! I agree with Rosie - give Applegate a miss I wouldn't go so far as to say it was dire and it starts off OK but then descends into deadly dullness. I like the Black Beauty's Family books, Hilda Boden and most Elinore Havers tho best ones by far of hers are Only One Pony and Dream Pony - probs mean you will hate them tho haha!
I can't think of any I had for ages then read and thought were great - probably are some but I'll have to go away and ponder that one.

Several Marguerite Henrys - maybe.
More Pullein-Thompson sisters - definitely.
More Monica Edwards - probably. I enjoy hers but am intimidated by how many she wrote and how some titles are hard to get hold of. I would like to read all of a series if I am going to read them at all.
Specific titles sitting around unread? I don't have that many, mostly from lots that I bought for other titles and am not that interested in.
