Thanks for letting us know Garej. I havent been on facebook today so this is the first I've heard of it. She certainly lived to a good old age.
RIP JPT you have given us all hours of pleasure and your books will not be forgotten.

Thanks for posting garej....what a great obit the telegraph did for her! Such a sad day though....found out this morning that Gerry Goffin had died and now that JPT is gone as well

Thanks everyone. Her books will always live on.
I must say I really like this bit on the Telegraph's obituary, which sums up my whole attitude to cleaning my flat. "As for housekeeping, she was reputed to have stated: āIām too busy reading to do the ironing." (My iron hardly get used.)

Thanks everyone. Her books will always live on. I must say I really like this bit on the Telegraph's obituary, which sums up my whole attitude to cleaning my flat. "As for housekeeping, she was reputed to have stated: āIām too busy reading to do the ironing." (My iron hardly get used.) Yeah me too garej! It was a good obit apart from the fact it displayed the usual cliched attitude to pony books as a sort of jolly hockeysticks/lashings of ginger beer type of story with added ponies, the writer calls them the "jolly adventures of the gymkhana set" and compares them to Enid Blyton. As we all know, JPT's books were nothing like either, being full of depth, insight and instructional detail as well as being great stories. Its a shame that JPT's writing prowess was not really highlighted by the obit. Be interested to hear what others think of this...?

That jolly adventures of the gymkhana set jarred with me too. I thought of books like Patrick's Pony and Show Jumping Secret which touched on social problems and really developed character.

Yes I recorded it and listened to it last Saturday. I say I wasnt overly impressed with it, namely because of endless neighing/clip clopping and the fact that it was rather centred on Six Ponies. Dont get me wrong, Six Ponies is a fantastic book, but there was more to her than Six Ponies. My own favourite is All Change and the Woodbury Pony Club series.
