Just wondered if any pony books have a war setting, with children facing threats of bombing, invasion etc? I've never seen any.

We Couldn't Leave Dinah by Mary Treadgold (WWII, Channel Isles) and Chestry Oak by Kate Seredy (WWII Hungary/Europe) are the two that come immediately to mind.
Sandro's Battle by David Scott O'Neill has a donkey, rather than a pony (WWII Italy).
Can't think of others off the top of my head....certainly there are other books about horses in war, but generally minus the children: (War Horse by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse by Fairfax Downey, Frog, the Horse that Knew No Master by Col. S.P. Meek, etc.) And there were books that depicted war on the home front: (Silver Eagle Carries On by Primrose Cumming, A Girl Called Bob and a Horse Called Yoki by Barbara Campbell).

It's mentioned as background in the Ponies for Jean books.

A few more to add:
There are two Pullein-Thompson stories set in war, Black Princess and Black Pioneer. They don't feature children as such but are from the horses point of view (part of the Black Beauty's Family series).
Parachute Silk by Shirley Faulkner Horne has a war time setting featuring a pair of children who think they have found a German spy.
Part of the Australian Billabong series is set in wartime, tho I think the characters are all young adults by that stage of the series rather than children.
Shank's Pony by Eleanor Helme is set in the 2nd World War - its about a young boy who lives in London but is evacuated to the countryside during the Blitz. (I have a feeling there are one or two other stories where a child is evacuated but can't think of them off the top of my head)
Northern Lights by Lorna Hill is a part pony part holiday story which supposedly has a backdrop of the 2nd world war - I haven't read this so not sure how much war content there is.

On the lines of Pony Point Of View war books there is also Gladeye the War Horse by Brigadier Walter Brooke. Bonus with that one is it's illustrated by Anne Bullen.
