Of course Follyfoot notably among pony books was televised. What others would have worked well, at least as a Radio 4 serial, who would play the characters?
Most by Monica Edwards would be good dramas, though often with lowish pony content. Mary Treadgold's ones like No Ponies. Six Ponies as a film perhaps.

I think the Jinny books would make fab TV series. Good characters, amazing scenery, plus the slightly supernatural/spiritual element.
You're right that it would have to be books which had some non-equine content.
There is actually a film of a Monica Edwards book - Killer Dog (non pony) tho I think the book was the novelisation of the film rather than the other way round.

I've always thought The Black Loch would make a good film and considering the genres popularity i'm astounded no one has ever bought the film rights to Treasure to the East. Much as I love Black Loch and Jump to the top, I do think that one was her finest hour as a writer.
I think Sheena Wilkinson's 'Declan' books could cross over into a good TV show as they are very current and topical of course.
Barbara Moss's In and out is basically an American version of Jilly Coopers Riders.

Yes I agree Haffy, Black Loch would make a great film, especially as there are already a few 'Nessie' type films around, this would be a variation on that theme.
I haven't read Treasure in the East. Wonder if someone could possibly lend me it (shameless hint!)
Another good one I think would be Queen Rider, as its more about the battle of wills between two people than show jumping per se. Its also a cracking read. As I've no doubt said before we MUST do that for the reading group sometime.

What about The Eventing Trilogy by Caroline Akrill? Great characters and humour in those.

What about The Eventing Trilogy by Caroline Akrill? Great characters and humour in those. That would be an excellent choice rosie, also her Silver Bridle trilogy would make a really fab series and would appeal to a wide audience due to it being about the film world.

I thought Black Loch was made into a film, sure I saw bits of it on TV once.
