Anyone watched this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Into_the_West_%28film%29I saw it a couple of times in my teens and really loved it. i think I liked the fantasy element of these kids living in a grotty city estate and somehow fidning this pony (in one scene they take it in the lift in thier tower block...). The film is set in the traveller community, and the two boys belong to a family who have stopped travelling and moved to an estate. I remember being really moved by it, and thinking how awesome it was, but I was about 13 at the time. I just wondered if anyone else had seen it and if it has stood the test of time...

I've seen it!!
Watched it many times. It's a different kind of horsey film, delving into the fantasy/mythology realm in a very subtle manner, not at all shoving it down your throat like so many others.
I love it, though. It was a partial inspiration for my own novel, too.

I love this film too. I like the gypsy/traveller community angle, its nice to read/see a horse story where gypsies aren't the stock villains! I also love films set in Ireland, (and especially those which explore irish folklore, customs, etc) which is I think my past Irish ancestry rearing its head.
BTW how's your writing coming on Daren?

BTW how's your writing coming on Daren? Not brilliant! I've got a week off next week, so I'm going to have a good bash at it then!
