Hi... I have been racking my brains (& google!!) trying to remember a series (3, I think) of books I read when I was younger, probably in the 1990's. About a girl who worked at a yard, who went to work at a summer camp, and along the way befriended a black mare called Crystal (I think!).... set in the USA. other details, her parents are divorced, lives with her dad and younger sister, meets a boy in one of the books, there is a barn fire in one book. I think she ends up bringing Crystal back home with her in the end... I know its all vague but I have been trying to figure this out for weeks!!!! maybe even months anybody recognise anything I've rambled on about!!?? xxxx

Hmmm I don't recognise this series. Maybe one of our American forum members can shed some light on it?

This is another (very) long shot. I remember reading a pony/mystery story from the library many years ago, that was set in the mediterranean south of France. All I can remember about it is some children riding and discovering an odd hidden/out-of-the way town that was called Rezet or something like that? It was by some Brit author, perhaps Pullein-Thompsons but think not. Any ideas?

Sorry Charlotte just noticed this post. I think it could be No Ponies by Mary Treadgold which was set in the South of France. Can't check all the details as I unfortunately dont have a copy of this but its about some British kids who go to stay with their hearty horse-mad cousins in France whom they dislike. Then I think the ponies are stolen or go missing and the kids all start to get along. There's a pic of it on my Mary Treadgold web page which may jog your memory - or not! marytreadgold.ponymadbooklovers.co.uk/

Fingers crossed its the right one. We normally do manage to track down people's book queries between us - tho poor elmoo has been out of luck.
