Well she's done it again! I don't know how she does it but a book where nothing much happens is an enjoyable read. Peter's rabbit escapes, Lindsey learns lots of new instruments, the colt Chalice keeps wandering off and Mothers hair looks awful when she cuts it herself. About the most dramatic thing that happens is a car is found upside down in the punchbowl! I thought at first, ah, this might be one I'm not going to like as much as the others but no, it swept me along in the families day to day life and has left me looking forward to the next book. I read the GGB edition which has the gorgeous Joan Wanklyn illustrations and the added bonus of her short story "Sure Magic" I've given it 5 horse shoes as I'd definitely read it again and again.

Sometimes nothing beats a "slice of life" type of book, you get to the end and think, "I really enjoyed that" and then you think, "hell nothing happened". They can have a feel good factor all their own

I don't normally like stories where nothing much happens but Monica Edwards gets away with it every time she writes one! Good that Sure Magic has been included, thats a nice story too.
