Finally got the web page updated. Can those of you still plugging on please check your lists to make sure I haven't missed anything out.
Tintin - have you read Katerfelto - I seem to recall you talking about it but I haven't awarded it a face.
I just have 1 to go now! If anyone would like more time to finish let me know otherwise we'll wrap it up at the end of the week.

I'm not going to finish the 10 but I do have a bulk load of smilies to report as this is the first time I've been able to log in since the upgrade! Happy face smilies for Bluegrass, The Black Stallion, abd the 2 Maggie Dana books. A frowny face for Mayfly as I found it quite dull and gave up after a few chapters. My star book is Bluegrass. Thankyou to whoever recommended it!

My star book is Bluegrass. Thankyou to whoever recommended it! Someone on here recommended it me and I probably went on about how good it was so you could have got it from me or the original recommender (if that is a word) who-ever it was. I agree one of the best adult horse books I have read. And well done for getting thru so many especially as you had school holidays to cope with. I'll wrap this up by the end of the week unless anyone requests an extension, and we'll maybe have a little re-cap of how we did, and our fav and least fav books, etc.

I loved the Bluegrass books the first time I read them and was totally stunned to find that they were written by a man!

I thought it was either you or haffy kunuma. Now I come to think of it I'm sure you actually lent me it! My memory is diabolical!

I really enjoyed Bluegrass too...think i lent you the other one (that is not so good and not a sequel as i first thought it may be). I put off reading it for ages as expected not to like it...isn't that always the case.
Reading challange wise i'm afraid i never read any more of the primrose cumming but i'm positive i've read it before after reading first chapter (probably under it's Uk title hence not remembering) so it would have been a neutral and i've not read any more of Oxus either... That'll be another year of getting an F!

Well folks we may as well wrap it up now. Everyone did very well and even those who didn't finish (including moi!) got a good few under their belt. The finished lists are now on-line: summerreadingchallenge.ponymadbooklovers.co.uk/AWARDSVery well done to the following who 'won' trophies for finishing the full challenge: BRUMBY KUNUMA RALLYCAIRN ROSIE SUSAN TAMZIN TINTIN And also to everyone who got a red rosette for completing at least 7 books from their lists: CLAIRE DARKHORSE GAREJ HAFFY TRIXIEPONY No-one finished less than 7 book so its certainly an improvement on last year. RALLYCAIRN gets the award for the 'most satisfied reader' as she gave smiley faces to all her selections! HAFFY gets the prize for the 'most picky reader' with 2 frownies and a couple of neutrals and KUNUMA gets the award for the 'most confused' (2 question marks!) STAR READSHaffy, Garej, Trixie and Tintin - would you like to pick your star (favourite) reads for the challenge. After much deliberation I finally plumped for The Black Loch over A Horse For the Holidays as I felt there was more depth to The Black Loch. The full list of star reads include: The Black Loch by Patricia Leitch (2 stars) Bluegrass by Borden Deal We Met Our Cousins by Joanna Cannan Black Beauty Punchbowl Harvest by Monica Edwards Horsepower by Patsey Gray Joe and the Hidden Horseshoe by Victoria Eveleigh Crystal's Mill Town Mystery by Stephen and Janet Bly Snow Pony by Alison Lester Led by the Grey If anyone would like to award a booby prize for their worst read let me know MOST POPULAR BOOKS:The Black Loch by Pat Leitch Joe and the Hidden Horseshoe by Victoria Eveleigh Too Many Ponies by Sheena Wilkinson. Thanks to all who took part. I hope everyone enjoyed it. If you have any comments on the challenge please post below. Even tho we have finished you are welcome to carry on the discussion.

Star read is difficult - Black loch is one i love for so many reasons but i think Snow pony pipped it at the post as i was so surprised by how much i enjoyed it (had avoided it for literally years). If Black loch had also been a first read it may have gone the other way.

I'm afraid I just scraped in on Friday night with a smiley face for Katerfelto...
Stiff competition for the Star Read, but "Led by the Grey" just wins due to its sheer originality.

I had a great time again...managed to finish this year (which I didn't last year) and even did one "extra credit". I think for me it will always be like that....either I'll zip through or I'll not even make the stretch! Great fun either way though...sign me up for next year!

Thanks for letting me know your star reads folks - I'll add them to the page. Well done Tintin for scraping through! You can have your trophy now and I'll add it to the web page too. Glad people enjoyed it and got most of their books read. I might have got all mine done if I hadn't wasted quite a few hours of my life on a certain update! Yes I definitely think we'll make this a permanent fixture on the forum. Next up on our schedule will be the Mastermind comp! Yep nearly that time already!
