Well, I'd like to claim October since I love the ghostly/mysterious type of story so much -- if no one else wants it, of course.

Hi all, well I was going to do The War That Saved My Life as a reading circle selection but the paperback edition is not out until May and the hardback and even ebook edition are quite pricey here so I think I will shelve that one for the time being. Also we are coming up to Halloween and usually have a spooky book for us all to read. So if anyone has any suggestions for a ghostly or otherwise spooky read please post here. Last year we did Freedom by Angela Dorsey which generated a great argument ;)discussion. Yep that was a whole year ago, can hardly believe it!

Spirit of Punchbowl Farm is quite spooky, can't think of any others that involve horses, but I am a bit tired at the moment.

I've just noticed in an above post that Rally had already pre-claimed October as her month to choose a book so it's over to you Rally. Green Horse Hotel is a good choice but I have just checked up and there are only copies available in the USA at the mo so may not arrive to the UK in time for the end of the month. And I dont think I have the series any more. Any alternatives Rally? (if you can't think of anything that is suitable you can maybe have the Christmas slot instead ) I have been mulling over the idea of some sort of fund we could set up to cover the cost of books and postage for the reading circle as it's a shame when we can't do them due to price and with postage prices going up it all adds up. I may post more on this idea shortly.

Hmm, yes, I am more than happy to send books but as it is now the middle of October, it's probably too late. I can certainly do another month.

What about The Grey Ghost by Carolyn Henderson or Red Horse Haunting by Anne Wigley. I have both of them and also Spirit of Punchbowl Farm.

Ive got Punchbowl and Red Horse Haunting. I should have The Grey Ghost but can't find it. One other suggestions is Hoofbeats at Midnight by Pamela Kavanagh. I have a copy of this I can lend anyone and also it's easy to find in the USA, whereas I think the others may be hard to find there.

Well I think we'll go with Red Horse Haunting as a few of us have it, I can lend any Brits a copy of it and if our American friends would like to join in there are a few copies on Amazon fairly cheap which ship from USA too so should arrive in time for Halloween.

Red Horse Haunting it is! Sounds great. I think so highly of Wigley's Tears for a Tall Horse, so this one should be excellent.

I think someone mentioned The Ponies Plot by C Northcote Parkinson as one that had a nice Christmas chapter, as well as being a fun, short-ish read. And someone else mentioned one of the Linda Craig books, Secret of the Sleigh by Ann Sheldon. (Both lurk in my tbr pile, because I bought them when there were being discussed as possibilities!)

I need to comment on The Red Horse Haunting - I did read it!
How about Laura Hesse's One Frosty Christmas? Cheap ebook and first in the trilogy.

Well I like both selections however I remember now that I did say that Rally could choose the Christmas one, as she was done out of her choice earlier in the year lol - so we had better go for that one! As Rally says it's VERY cheap as an e-book at only £1.32 in the UK. (I assume similarly cheap in the USA) I also noticed that you can actually get the trilogy in ebook format for only £2.59! That includes a Halloween themed one (The Great Pumpkin Ride) which we could maybe use for next year's spooky read. Now that's what I call a bargain - off to buy it now! I'll set up a thread for this shortly.

Great -- glad this book is so easy to find for most of the group. I hope it's a good one -- I've read a few pages and it seems promising -- the writing is decent/not amateurish (or at least so far, anyway).

Hi all, I always seem to be coming on here and apologising for not being awol, and here I am doing it again. A mixture of health and computer problems are dogging me at the moment. However I will try and get on more often.
Anyhow back to the subject in hand. Is there anyone who hasn't nominated a reading circle book yet who would like to choose one for our Feb/March read? Something juicy if possible as we haven't had a good ding dong for a while lol. Oh and don't forget to add your comments/vote for the Christmas/winter read if you haven't already done so. It has a consensus of good opinions so far and is defo worth a read if you haven't already.

Hi all just bumping this as no-one has responded as yet, I think we are in a bit of a post-Christmas lull at the moment! We need suggestions for a reading group book for Feb/March. Preferable something fairly easy to get hold on both sides of the pond and also not too pricey.

Sorry Claire gess we are all being a bit dim just now, we have had a drarmer here mum got really sick. In the south west, my small corner of Australia we had a heat wave for a week and mum went and got heat sick. We where really worried for her, dad was quite frantic poor dear, my brother rushed over, and we had her rushed to hospital in the ambulance. Any way with that dramer I have hardly looked at a book, I have been looking after dad and cleaning the house for mum to come home to and keeping my brother up to date on how mums going. Should carm down soon be home again in day or so.

Sorry to hear about your Mum Trixie Pony, hope she is feeling better soon.
Claire will have a think and poke around the shelves, presently the books I come up with are all hard to get.
Didn't we at one stage talk about revisiting 'Jill'? I'd love that cause I'm a fan!
