Hi all I'll start up a dedicated thread for JMB then as no-one seems to object lol. Might be quite interesting to see who prefers her stand alones to the Jackie series, etc. I know its still Jan but may as well start now as Feb is a short month.

Hi all, any suggestions for the next author of the month? Anyone as long as they have written a reasonable amount of books so there is some scope for discussion. Perhaps a more modern author for a change? Well I'll leave it open to discussion.

How about Janet Rising? I am not sure if she has written anything other than The pony Whisperer series, but they are fun.

We haven't done Elinore Havers, she might be quite a good choice. I'm not sure that Janet Rising and Lauren st. John have written enough pony books yet for sufficient discussion, polls, etc. BTW here's a re-cap of what we've had so far:
K M Peyton Caroline Akrill American Authors Vian Smith Patricia Leitch DPT Judith Berrisford

I've also got some Elinor Havers books so I could join in with that one. There's also Gillian Baxter and Primrose Cumming who we haven't done yet and who have written lots of books.

I'll give Eleanor Havers a miss as I don't have any and The Surprise Riding Club I did read I got rid of as I didn't rate it much.
But I'd be up for Gillian Baxter if we do her in the future. And Primrose Cumming as I have all of hers bar the sheep one.

Hi all, well I think for April we will do Gillian Baxter as I think there's a bit more to get your teeth into with her than Elinore Havers (whom we may do sometime in future).
Any suggestions for the reading club selection? We've already done the Pantomime Ponies books. Some titles I would put forward as being good for discussion are:
Bargain Horses The Team From Low Moor Sweet Rock
Sweet Rock is extremely rare but I am happy to pass it round or scan it for people to read. all 3 books have some interesting/possibly controversial content.

If others want to do Sweet Rock as well I will scan it in time for the reading group. Otherwise it may be a bit later on, but I'll defo do it some time Rosie x

I won't vote, because I never made the last reading group.....turned out to be impossible to hold a real book with my broken wrist, so I was reduced to ebook only for 6 weeks!!
That said, wrist is out of cast now, and I have all these books and would happily re-read any of them.

I'm in with whatever you choose, I found a reasonably priced copy of Sweet Rock lurking in New Zealand, should be here soon Looking forward to Gillian Baxter, have loved the books I've read so far.

Lucky you finding a cheap copy of Sweet Rock. They can be hard to come across. I think its quite a controversial book due to the behaviour of one of the main characters. In a way Bargain Horses is too in that the heroine is not horse mad but forced into a life with them by her mother. The 3rd book I've shortlisted (Team at Low Moor) also has plenty of scope for discussion. Its going to be hard to choose one! (Maybe we'll end up doing 2 again as with JMB)
Anyway it may come down to what books everyone has or can get hold of. If you dont mind reading scans everyone should be able to read Sweet Rock as I can email the scans out to all. Bargain Horses is unfortunately no longer cheap to buy but I have a copy I can lend out. Team at Low Moor is quite hard to find. (Reasonable priced copy on Amazon at the mo)
So let me know preferances - if you have any - for which one to choose.

I's also love a scan if possible Claire. I have the other two and it's a long time since i read either but i remember liking bargain horses but can't remember that much about The team From low Moor.
The Stables at Hampton is my favourite Gillian Baxter i think.
