Hi all, don't know if anyone is interested but have started a new blog where I'll be reviewing non-pony books, adult books, and also anything with adult content which is not really suitable for the ponymadbooklovers blog. I've got to work on the design a bit when I have a spare mo as its a bit spartan at the minute. My first review is Maggie Dana's (author of Keeping Secrets, etc) adult non-horse book Painting Naked. If anyone on here would like to review a book as a guest blogger let me know. Visit blog here

Well I just received a non fiction book which may take a while to read through- it's too heavy to read lying down in bed! It's called ' A Green and Pleasant Land:How England's Gardeners fought the Second World War' by Ursula Buchan. Only published a couple of months ago, this is the book I was intending to write before I got too ill. I'm fascinated by the home front in England and am sure I would've been a Land Girl, and I'm interested in communal allotments etc. I will post a review when I finish it.

Sounds an unusual book Cally. I've always been interested in growing my own food but apart from tomatoes my efforts have not been very successful. OK with flowers but dont seem to have a green thumb when it comes to vegetables! Do you grow your own?

Oh yes: tomatoes, lettuce, 2 types of cucumber, snow peas, beans, potatoes, red bell peppers, silver beet (I think you call it chard), beetroot- that's mainly it. Herbs of all sorts, eggs from our 3 chickens, and we used to brew our own beer and cider but don't have the time and energy anymore and I don't drink. We used to grow mushrooms in the pantry but we don't have the room now.

Wow I'd love to do all that but I even gave up on tomatoes after last years dismal so called summer yielded a grand total of about 4! (I grew the outdoor trailing sort) You are welcome to review the book on my blog as a guest reviewer
