Great pics. That looks like it was a brill day! But did I spot a docked tail on (what looks to be) a Percheron?

I spy an Arab!! Claire I was worried about that tail too, but I think they have just cut all the hair off (goodness knows why - especially at this time of year!) it does look in the shots of them loading him as though he still has all his bone there. Who was the bay with a blaze??

Have had a better look with the size zoomed up and yes he does have the bone. Does look a bit ugly though.

They were all lovely - I particularly liked the grey police horse - he was so interested in everything. The heavy horse was a shire horse I think they said - maybe his tail is like that for driving or for showing - don;t know - they didn't say anything about it.
THe bay thoroughbred was in the War Horse film they said.

Ah, one of the "Joeys" then I'm not sure about the short tail either, but they used to do it in the old days so it didn't get caught in the harness and also when ploughing they didn't have to keep cleaning all the mud out of the tail. Something like that anyway. It certainly doesn't look nice whatever the reasons.

I went to this exhibition at the weekend (it's good, and free) but there weren't any real horses included!
