This is how his new rider treats him............ this pic is apparently all over facebook - the more people that see it the better, so, for people like me who don't do facebook - - -the sick side of dressage.

I've never seen it on facebook - but then I dont go on much either. Not a huge fan of dressage at high level anyway as I think it forces the horse to do a lot of unnatural things, and this sort of thing doesn't exactly endear it to me!

Just done a quick google on this and apparently people are complaining cos the pics have been taken off facebook - copyright issues or big brother.....? Wonder if ours are safe? Here's another terrible one: Attachments:

this blog has some interesting vids of a young Totilas....once a lovely young horse ridden by a lady but the 2007 vid is interesting to say the least. The 'saviour' they all want the horse to go back to is as guilty as the next IMO! let horses be horses i says
Couldn't agree more. And you're not the only one to say his previous rider wasn't much better. I thought hyperflexion was banned but every time I see dressage it seems worse than ever.

I don't have anything against classical/natural dressage but all this using rolkur and over flexion I do! How anyone can think it looks nice is beyond me. This video says it all

Haven't plucked up the courage to watch the vid yet! I wonder if they are trying to make dressage more palatable to the non-horsy (or ignorantly horsy) by making it more dramatic looking. It does seem to pander to those who think horses are constantly rearing, neighing at the top of their voices, prancing and arching their necks - as provided by the Hollywood presentation of the horse ;D Can't think of any other reason! To me its like the bearing rein all over again!!! I do have time for basic dressage as it can help in every day riding, jumping, etc but I agree with those who call top level stressage. When I watch the horses in tests they look for the most part far more stressed out than in jumping, cross country, racing, etc. In fact I have just about stopped watching it for this reason. Mind you I have also noticed rolkur to some extent in show jumping too especially lately. Anyone else seen this?

Dressage is beautiful when done well- this clip is one of my favorites I watch it over and over again just because the horse is clearly loving its work and showing off.
However people who train and ride like that should be disqualified immediately... its horrific. And a lot of younger kids have picked up on this sort of thing and now think a bend neck = on the bit and as one of them put it "more points in dressage". Worrying...

Was looking on youtube for vids of flying changes for another thread and found this lovely little clip. This is my sort of dressage - a horse doing flying changes for the sheer joy if it! Compare this to the video rosie posted! Why must we think we can improve on what is already perfection...?

Doesn't it show how it could be such a beautiful movement when they haven't got their mouths tied to their chests - lovely lovely vid! He's actually changing accurately every two strides to!! Wouldn't it be fabulous if all dressage was done bitless.

Lovely natural dressage - you just need to watch horses in the field and then under saddle to see how much difference a rider can make to their natural balance and paces.

Brought a lump to my throat, you only get that sort of relationship with a horse once or twice in your life.
