Hi all if you buy a lot of books thru the post (or sell them) you could be forking out a lot more in a month's time. You've probably already heard about the massive increase of 1st class stamps from 46p to 60p (and to 50p for 2nd) but some pretty hefty price hikes for parcels too. The worst hike is a huge jump for items sent standard parcel rate - from £4.41 to £5.30 for up to 2kg and from £7.60 to £8.80 for upt to 4kg for example. But increases also across the board. A competely new twist is that there will now be only 1 standard price for all packets (as opposed to large letters) up to 750g in weight instead of a number of tiers - £2.70 1st class, £2.20 2nd class. This means all paperbacks which are over an inch thick, even light ones will cost at least £2.20 to post! Also international prices are going up too, making it more expensive for you overseas members to buy your British pony books! Not sure how our prices compare to other peoples in the USA and Australia - be quite interesting to know what your some of your internal post prices are. Anyway if anyone is interested in the new prices they can be found here

The increase in the price of stamps is shocking. When I was in the post office the other day everyone was frantically buying books of stamps to stock up. I don't think there will be many Christmas cards sent next Christmas

This reminds me of something I saw on fb:- I plan to sell something on ebay this weekend (it's a Chamilia bracelet) and I hope that people buy now rather than leaving it to next month.

Well having loads of fun spending hours changing all the postage prices on my books today. Just hope I've got some customers left come next week. If I thought the UK price hikes were bad the airmail ones are even worse. All the packets have soared up by 60-80% rises - it now costs around £4 to send a small light paperback to Australia! Heavier books are going to cost at least £2 or £3 more than they used to do pre-price rise. I do feel sorry for you overseas collectors who buy books in the UK cos they are gonna go up a lot!
