Hi all apologies for not being on here a lot/posting much the last few days. I have had terrible toothache and can't get in to see dentist til next week. Its settled down a little today (touch wood) but has been awful. Funnily enough I found some interesting home remedies for toothache on the internet and they actually work! I got this stuff from the pharmacy and it was useless so I thought I'd give the home ones a go. The best one is swirling brandy round your bad tooth for about a minute. It really does make it get less painful (OK yes I had a little drink of it too which may have helped ) Also garlic rubbed on the teeth also works to some extent but its a bit sick-making and makes you pong! Has anyone else tried any home cures for toothache?

Sounds awful Claire Keep drinking the Brandy ;D Now I'm going to be smug and say I've never had toothache! My teeth are about the only part of my body that isn't falling apart

Oil of cloves/clove oil which you can get at the pharmacy is used for toothache.

Yes my dad said this too but problem is taste of cloves makes me heave! Seems to have settled down a bit now as long as I drink thru a straw and am careful what I eat. Got a feeling the damn thing will have to come out or it'll be a root canal job!

ouch (to put it mildly) Can't remember what it was but you can get something (old wives tale i'm sure) from chemist in a small bottle you can dab on to help with the pain...maybe ask them as i can't for life of me remember what it is. Just had a quick look and i can only find iodine on my side which was for nags feet so not that! edited to add could it be TCP? Theres a big bottle of that and can't think what it was bought for as we always end up using vetwrap/other equine first aid stuff inevitably, really must at least buy some plasters

Just had a quick look and i can only find iodine on my side which was for nags feet so not that! ;D ;D ;D Well they do say laughter is the best medicine so thanks for that dose haffy ;D I did get summat from the chemist but it didnt numb the pain and in fact made it worse! What a waste of £3 odd I could have spent on a pony book!!! Actually nothing has helped as much as the brandy so just shows the old cures are sometimes the best.
