One of my guinea pigs has fairly suddenly lost the use of her back legs. Now this seems to be quite common, and various things say it's calcium lack, or vit C lack? Do feel a bit guilty, as they used to get loads of fresh grass which I picked when up; at the stables, now of course they don't but do get proper gpig food with Vit c added, and dried grass in a bale - so can't really see why this has happened. Apparently they go on like this for ages, or it can be permanent. Just wondered if anyone had come across it before?

Not an expert but have had them in the past. I have heard of this but havent experienced it. Apparently you can add vit C to water by adding powdered ascorbic acid, not sure if this may be the quickest way to get it to her - maybe google it. Does she get fresh fruit or veggies every day too as thats what we used to give ours as well as grass & pellets, tho for some reason I cant remember not apples. You could also try growing some of that cat grass in some pots on the windowsill. You can get the packets of seeds in garden centres and supermarkets. Your moggie will eat it too! Hope the little mite gets better soon x

I've had guinea pigs in the past but never had one with this condition though.
Agree with Claire about the vit C that goes in the water and the fresh fruit and veg.
Hope she recovers soon.
