As a matter of interest, bookish and financial, if anyone has read and can comment on any of the "rarest" books, I'd love to hear it.....I always wonder if they're worth the hunt/expense!
I can comment on the following:
Grand Rogue by Frances Priddy......very enjoyable. Has some romance (nothing too icky), but if that puts you off, scratch it from your list.
Pamela and the Blue Mare by Alice O'Connell....really excellent, someone must reprint this one!
New Forest Detectives by Stephen Mogridge....very good...I'm a fan of the series, but I enjoy mystery/adventure books, if you don't like that kind of thing intruding into your pony book, let this one go
Crab the Roan by K.M. Peyton (as Kathleen Herald).....another excellent book that MUST BE REPRINTED!!

Re, the rare ones - Yes, Crab the Roan is very good, one of my favourites of hers. Gay Darius is also reasonably good. I have Wild Ponies by Joyce Stranger but I haven't read it yet - will let you know when I do.
I really enjoyed putting this section together - it was interesting to see which books came where. I have made a few 'executive decisions' where there were ties, based on what I know of the books, comments people have made about them, etc, but I hope I have captured the general consensus of opinion. Thanks also to everyone who suggested top 10s, made comments and voted. Most of the polls are still open so you can still vote, and I will be checking them from time to time just to see if there has been any radical changes.
