Hi darkhorse have moved this to the appropriate section. Don't worry not your fault you couldnt post it here cos I had disabled new threads on this section. Strangely enough I had a similar problem to this the other day when I was using my dads computer when my internet was down, but obviously didnt want to go poking around his computer trying to rectify it so just gave up! Usually when there is any problems logging in it has to do with your cookies settings. If you have any anti virus software which has a block cookies and/or pop ups facility (esp Zone Alarm) make sure it is unchecked as this will often cause probs with logging in. You can change settings on windows itself as wel but I can't remember which ones at the mo. But will get back to you if still having probs.

darkhorse if you are still having trouble logging in but can get in as a guest please read this...I've just had exactly the same prob as you when on aol, however I tried opening the forum through mozilla firefox and i logged in OK. If you have mozilla try loggin in thru that if not you can download it for free.

>:(AOL is impossible!! Half the time I cannot get into forums, OR onto any secure sites. I can't pay for anything I buy on my computer, I have to order stuff on another computer that is on another server. For ages I didn't know why Ihad this problem, until one site put up a very helpful list of their users problems......... with AOL. It always takes at least half a dozen tries to sign in to ebay, and sometimes I can't for days! AS for trying to use Paypal, once I took 20 minutes and heaven knows how many tries, pressing the pay button and being flung back to the start - I have NEVER been able to pay at the first attempt! Oh yes, and btw AOL >:(every time you download an "update" the problem gets freakin' worse!!! OK rant over , I feel better now!

kunuma , How old is your computer.? I was getting all these problems and thought it was my provider or security. I have a new one now and no problems so far..It turned out my computer didn't have enough memory so loading all the security and updates just slowed it down even more..What security do you use and have you tried mozilla.. I would recommened this to anyone having your sort of problems. The only problem I used to have with AOL was their agressive email filter..Often couldn't send to them..

kunuma if not your computer could be your security settings, especially if you use zone alarm. The amount of problems you are having with lots of different sites - I would agree with exmoorfan it prob isnt aol. I have occaisional probs with them but most logging in probs were caused by over enthusiastic security programs! I have ditched zone alarm and now use avg (which is free!) and rarely have any probs.

What's a mozilla? Sounds like something that comes with a cherry on a stick Haffyfan are you on dial up or broadband? My computer is about 3 years old, but a very baaaaaaaaad one (long annoying story about how not to get a computer which I will spare you!) Hmmmmm - I do use Zone Alarm, with Avast for viruses, I have never been able to understand why if if can say, sign in to Ebay on the fifth try, it couldnt do it on the first one. I always expected computers to be logical!!

I always expected computers to be logical!! Now why would you think that? ;D If the Mozilla Firefox option doesn't work try uninstalling zone alarm and then go to this page and install avg free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5See what happens then. If your problems are solved it was zone alarm! If you create a restore point before uninstalling zone alarm you can just go back to that if you want and it will re-install it for you. Zone alarm seems to cause huge problems for many people. I managed to get mine settled down and it was OK for about 2 years but then it started going haywire and kept crashing the computer. I actually thought I had a virus but as soon as I got rid of zone alarm the probs stopped.

Hi all, just to let you know have been having some logging in problems with the forum when using Mozilla Firefox. Well, it logs in OK but then altho my name shows up as being logged in it still says I am a guest and cannot post. I know others have had this same problem in the past. It is working fine with explorer tho so if you are having this prob if browsing with firefox try opening the site in explorer.
