I just wanted to send you all best wishes and my hope that none of you are in harms' way over in the UK at present.
I've been in tears at some of the things that are going on and I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. It's just wanton destruction and I know that for every idiotic looter, arsonist and violent thug there are 100 decent people who oppose this behaviour.
Please keep safe. Thinking of you all.

Thanks cally - our country is in a dreadful state at the moment. Trouble is the government has made so many cuts to the police force we just havent got enough to cope with all the violence. I'm not a huge fan of the human race but this just makes me despair of it. Its mainly confined to big cities and I'm lucky enough to be far from it all. Hope everyone else is well away from the trouble too.

Thanks Cally. Absolute scum they are.
Makes you very sad and embarrassed to come from the UK thinking what other countries will think of us with all this going on. Can't help but wonder if will have a negative effect on the Olympics too.
Like Claire glad I live in the sticks right now as must be terrifying for those who have to live/work in town centres involved.

I've heard there was some trouble in your nearest big city haffy? Tho obviously you must live quite a way from it. Hope no-one you know got caught up in it. I was a bit worried about a lot of my friends and families as they live in big city areas in the NE but there hasn't been any trouble there touch wood.

Oh says they firebombed a police station in really rough area, i hadn't realised that. Technically speaking were actually closer To Sheffield, you could probably count on one hand the amount of people I know here!

I think Haffy and I live in/near the same big city. There was defo firebombing in a police station. And they've smashed all the windows in the shopping centre (and looted poundland- I mean seriously?!) It's ridiculous. Luckily I live about 1/2 hr away from the city so i'm away from it all, but none of my friends want to risk going clubbing tonight sad times...

I have friends in Nottingham and Ealing and I know there's been riots in the latter.
Yes- police cuts; stupid idea in the first place, before all of this idiocy! They must realise they'll just have to hire private security guards for the Olympics- many of whom will be (rightly so) disgruntled former cops. And letting rioters out on bail and back on the streets before things have calmed down? duh!

Thanks Cally.
I have a friend who lives in Clapham Junction and he said that it took the police two hours to arrive after it all started - apparently the only shops untouched were the charity shops.

The southern looters obviously have more expensive tastes than the northern ones!

I am far away from any major town or city, so I doubt that any riots will be happening here! Thankfully things are quiet around here, and everything is operating normally.
