Finally got my new laptop after the first one I ordered fail to turn up. Its a wide screen jobby and I must say I'm not fan of the widescreen ones, prefer my old style screen. Unfortunately all the ones with decent specs I looked at happened to be widescreen. Some of the websites look weird, but if you try to change the display too much you get a very stretched out appearance. Also realised my own websites looked a bit odd on the widescreen, stuck to one side, so I am having to centre everything now! Please can you also check out the website news section as I have a little favour i would like to ask people re. checking the website.

if anyone else has a widescreen, what resolution do you have it set at? At the recommended setting the writing is so tiny I cant read it, even on a lower resolution all the text looks odd. A bit like when you open the computer in 'safe mode' slightly blurry. May have to fiddle with it a bit to get it right. TBH tho the fan is making such a noise on this new laptop I may even have to take it back!

if anyone else has a widescreen, what resolution do you have it set at? Mine is widescreen, and the resolution is 1366x768 (which is recommended!). The orientation is Landscape if that helps.

Thanks garej, it seems to be OK on explorer, I have made the resolution lower so I can actually see the words! But there appears to be some iincompatibility with firefox and my computer or with Windows 7 - its obviously linked to the text changes on my website too. Have you got Windows 7 too garej? I may try a very old version of firefox and see what happens.
There is supposed to be some way you can change the screen to a 4:3 (old fashioned TV shape) which centres everything in the middle of screen and has black lines down the side. Would love to do that but the options dont seem to appear on windows 7. I obviously have to get to grips with windows 7 as opposed to XP and then I may be able to sort the prob out.

Having to struggle on with this new one for a few days more despite the constant whining noise the fan is making cos I managed to spill some water on my old laptop and completely knacker it So have to get that one fixed before I can swap this one for a one where the fan works properly or I'll end up having none. On the plus side I have managed to get to grips with the widescreen with a lot of fiddling around. Unfortunately also having probs with the internet keep going down...sigh dont you just LOVE computers.... EDIT - just thought to myself I have 4 computers in the house at the moment (3 laptops 1 desk top) and NONE of them work properly!!!
