Snigger....pretty good. It'd be hysterical if it weren't too close to my reality Just got a new phone today, just the latest model of the same phone I've had for 6 years, and I'm totally lost! (Pathetic, I know)

Hehe, ditto susan ;D I loathe mobile phones. Have one but hardly use it in fact I'm afraid to take it out the house now as there is so much unused credit on it I'm scared I'll lose it. When my old one konked out I didnt have one at all for about 6 months and hardly missed it. I get annoyed when I see people twiddling with their phones all the time. What really gets my goat is when I go to the pub and see a group of young uns sitting together at a table none of them talking to each other, all furiously texting someone else! Can't understand the point in them going out together! Also I hate when you are talking to someone and they start texting - this is rude in my book! Is this mobile/cell phone obsession just here or is it just as bad in USA and Australia - I'd be interested to know.

It is interesting on the tube - everyone is glued to their mobiles - texting/facebooking or listening to music. I feel quite old-fashioned sitting there reading my book! (Although I am quite nosey and tend to people watch a lot). My phone is so ancient that I am almost embarassed to get it out in company! I was sending a message one luchtime at school when when of the kids in my class came through - he looked at the mobile and said (in disbelief) Is that your phone? WHere did you get it? I said in Italy about 8 years ago and he said 'Ohhh. Do they all look like that there?' He probably has a better phone and he is 7!

Good grief, no....I'd bet it is just as bad, if not worse, in the US.
The thing that gets me is when you're with someone (especially when you're out eating), their phone rings and THEY ANSWER IT. And HAVE A CONVERSATION!!!!
Hello......are we not out having this lunch in order to talk to each other? Why are you answering your phone now? Unless one of your kids is having a medical emergency, you don't need to get that.
Its comical when people ask for my cell phone number....I have to say, "Well, you're welcome to it, but it's almost never on. And when it is on, the ringer is still turned off. And I don't bother with the voicemail that's on it, so don't leave a message. Still want the number?".
Full disclosure, I have a Blackberry, for three reasons....one, so I can answer friends' emails on the train to/from work (hey, it's a 2 and 1/2 hour round trip a day, five days a week); two, so I have web access for that time frame and three, because I am a chronic list maker and the Blackberry essentially replaced my old Palm Pilot for that task.
When I transfered my data from my 6 year old Blackberry last night, I found had 139 lists! Seriously! I have my Birthday lists (by year), Christmas (ditto), authors with book lists (got, want, etc)...oh, just everything.
My very first new list was for the National Book Festival in Washington, DC this September....a note of the dates and the authors scheduled to appear: old art form (book), meet new technology (Blackberry).
When I got my new model yesterday, the people in the wireless shop were passing my old one around: "Hey, look at this, it's the old blah blah blah model!!!"..."Really?! I've never even SEEN one of those"...."Look, it's got the old click wheel....it's out of the Ark!!!".
Grr.....young whippersnappers!!!

Yes that gets right up my nose as well.
Also people who just stop their cars anywhere however dangerous to answer their phones. O.K. Better than talking on it while driving along but really, do they have to just screech to a halt right that minute to answer the thing afraid in case they might miss something. Can they really not wait until they find a safe place to stop? Grrrr!
