As I mentioned in the other thread I have a amazon voucher which is a good excuse to go book shopping, but I have no clue what to buy! I've had a little poke around but its hard knowing if they're worth buying or not, as they may end up being rubbish. I've also had a look on the PMBL website on the adult book bit which has been really helpful! So if anyones read any books recently that are amazing, please let me know :-) I'm sorta looking for adult/young adult books now (look at me all grown up ;D ) It doesn't have to be a horsey book, but thats always a bonus. So.. any favorites to recomend? Oh and i've ordered 'Taking Flight' as it looked amazing, thanks Haffy!

Anything by Caroline Akrill or K.M. Peyton maybe? I don't think either of them have written any stinkers?

I'm assuming that these have to be new, in print books in order to use your Amazon gift card? If so, Amazon does seem to be stocking a few of Peyton's titles: Blind Beauty in paperback, Flambards trilogy in paperback and Flambards itself in hardcover (at £5.24 that seems like a good deal). Blind Beauty www.amazon.co.uk/Blind-Beauty-K-M-Peyton/dp/1407105337/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297708707&sr=1-1Flambards paperbacks www.amazon.co.uk/Flambards-K-M-Peyton/dp/0192719556/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708579&sr=1-1www.amazon.co.uk/Cloud-Oxford-Childrens-Modern-Classics/dp/0192750232/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708579&sr=1-2www.amazon.co.uk/Flambards-Summer-K-M-Peyton/dp/0192750542/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708579&sr=1-3and hardcover www.amazon.co.uk/Flambards-Childrens-Classics-K-M-Peyton/dp/0192720031/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708579&sr=1-6The paperback of The Perfect Distance by Kim Ablon Whitney is there for £3.88 (it seems to take quite a while to ship, but is being offered through Amazon, not a private seller). It was a reading group title here a few months back, so you might want to check out the thread to see if it sounds like it might interest you. www.amazon.co.uk/Perfect-Distance-Kim-Ablon-Whitney/dp/0553494678/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1297708536&sr=1-4Speaking of the reading group, the next title up is Marguerite Henry's King of the Wind, so if you'd like to join in, it is available as part of an omnibus that also contains Misty and Justin Morgan had a Horse www.amazon.co.uk/Marguerite-Treasury-Horses-Chincoteague-Justin/dp/1416939547/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708447&sr=1-6If you like horse books with a historic bent, Diane Lee Wilson might interest you I Rode a Horse of Milk White Jade www.amazon.co.uk/Rode-Horse-Milk-White-Jade/dp/1402240279/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708772&sr=1-1Firehorse www.amazon.co.uk/Firehorse-Diane-Lee-Wilson/dp/1442403314/ref=sr_1_16?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708897&sr=1-16Black Storm Comin' www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Storm-Comin-Diane-Wilson/dp/0689871384/ref=sr_1_13?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297708928&sr=1-13Not sure if you're interested in hardcovers or paperbacks, but Firehorse and Black Storm Comin' are also available in hardcover

Hope you enjoy it as much as i did in that case!
I also like Shelley Peterson's books - Sundancer, Abby Malone, Stagestruck, Sundancer and Mystery At Saddle Creek farm
KM Peyton's Pennington trilogy is also excellent.
If you like Jilly cooper (as I think you possibly do?) you might like Barbara Moss's In and Out - takes a while to get into her strange style though (self published I believe!) It's like an American Riders.
Did you read Kim Ablon Whitneys The Perfect distance when we read it a bit back? If not thats another I'd recommend.
Also a few more maybe worth looking at..
Susan millard - Againts the Odds Elyne mitchell - man From Snowy river

Thanks for posting this! I have an (as yet) unspent amazon voucher too.
I have thought about spending it on a DVD but I am not sure which one(s) which to get, because I have narrowed it down to 6....

Misty's Twilight takes place long after Misty has gone.....it's about one of Misty's descendants. It was ok, but I wouldn't say "run out and buy it".

Yes its one of those books which really just cash in on the popularity of a well known series as it doesnt have much to do with the original Misty. Cant remember what happens in it actually as I havent read it for yonks, unlike the other Misty books which I've read loads and loads. I'll lend it to you sometime if you like kunuma.

I don't think it was so much cashing in as that she was ninety years old when she wrote it. (I know that sound sooo mean, but really, given the quality of her earlier work, there isn't really any other explanation).

(I know that sound sooo mean, but really, given the quality of her earlier work, there isn't really any other explanation). Crikey didnt realise she was that old when she wrote it. Actually I was thinking it was more the publishers cashing in on the success of Misty rather than the author.
