In A Pony To School (DPT), there is a reference to a book called Equitation, which is a book by Henry Wynmalen and is also a book which heavily influenced all three PT sisters.

In We Hunted Hounds (CPT), there are references to several books which are:-
The A B C of Foxhunting Ratcatcher to Scarlet The Book of the Foxhound The Golden Thread Fifty Years a Huntsman (by Sam Wells) Baily's Hunting Directory
There isnt a The A B C of Foxhunting, but there is a book called Slipper's ABC of Foxhunting by E OE Somerville, MFH. Ratcatcher to Scarlet exists (it's by Cecil Aldin), and so does Baily's Hunting Directory. However Fifty Years a Huntsman does not.
Although the Book of the Foxhound exists, it was first published in 1964, which is after the book was first published. Similarly there are several books called A Golden Thread, but they were published after We Hunted Hounds, with the exception of one book (by Philo Melvin Buck) but I am not convinced it is horsey.

Been reading Somebody's Horse by Dorothy Nafus Morrison and it mentions and has at the start of each chapter a quotation from a book called You and Your Equine Friend - not sure if this is a real book or not, it will be a USA one if so as the book is American.

In PL's Pony Surprise, Penny rereads one of her fave pony stories - she describes it as a "cosy, comforting thing to be doing", which is such a lovely description.
