Truly one of the greatest racehorses ever. His traumas, the awful treatment he went through, then his banning - followed by rehabilitation by Monty Roberts to go on to be such a success is an incredible story, but above all he was truly beautiful and talented. RIP Lomitas www.montyroberts.com/horses/lomitas/

What a good looking horse he was. RIP x
More controversy about Monty. I seem to recall a few years ago there was some hoo-ha about him saying he was making stuff up. Looks like its doin the rounds again. Its hard to reconcile this with his personality and what he does. But I can't really say anything more til I have read it.

Yes, I know that there has been a massive family row over it all, and believe me I know just what families can be like, add money to the mix and you are bound to get trouble. No one is usually more down on the so called celebrity trainer types than me, especially now when everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Just don't get me started on the likes of the Parellies, and that idiot Stilwell woman - BUT I don't ever really take any notice of what people say, it's the animals I watch, and you can tell from them if there is genuine knowlege and skill involved. What the truly good animal people have, is the ability to read animals, to predict their behaviour and pre-empt their reactions. If you can do it yourself, you can instantly see if someone really has it or not, and believe me, I have spent many hours in real life watching Monty work, including with horses that I know, and he is the real deal. I don't give a toss about money, celebrity status or whatever, and what he does is not magic, it is not special, it is just understanding the animal you are working with and working with it, not against it. I know people who never thought there was any other way to teach an animal other than hitting it, I have seen one of them change their ways, for that alone I am thankful to Monty Roberts. Make your own minds up about anyone who tells you they are good with animals, but let the animals tell you the truth about them. They will tell you the truth about their owners, and they will do so just as easily with a celebrity! And please never ask my family for their opinions about me!!! ;D ;D ;D

Well i havent been lucky enough to meet him in RL like you kunuma but from what i have seen on his videos I wholeheartedly agree. True honesty will always come from animals. Also wasnt it his disgust with his fathers method of breaking horses which inspired him to come up with an alternative (as well as watching wild horse interact)? Not that his father would have been any different from most men of that time and place in their handling of horses.

I have heard from a very reputable source that a 'horseman' with the initials P.P lost his bottle one day with a horse he couldn't load onto a float (he consistently claims he can get ANY horse to load using his methods) and flogged it about the head until it bled. He also opened a clinic once by saying to the almost entirely female audience "you're all fat, fifty and f*#ked".
I agree that you should never fully trust someone who makes fabulous claims about themselves, especially boastful generalisations as a real horse person knows ALL HORSES ARE DIFFERENT and one method can't work 100% of the time on 100% of the animal population.
